Hmmm, these times that we are living in, e be like say podcast go be the thing wey go finally scatter Nigeria. Everybody now has podcast, and recently, another podcast has come to join the already existing pile of podcasts. This one is called the Rants, Bants, and Confessions podcast and it is hosted by comedian and Instagram influencer Caramel Plugg along with two other girls, influencers Maliya Michael and Lydia.

During the first episode of their podcast, they were talking about valentine's day and the tradition of gifting, spoiling each other on the day, what women expect and what men can provide, etc. At one point during the conversation, one of the girls Lydia said that there is a stereotype that women of these days put a price on their vaginas. That is when the other co-host of the show Maliya went on to say her statement that is causing quite some controversy. Here is what was said.

Maliya speaking during podcast

During the podcast, Lydia said "They say that why have we Gen Z, abi women of today, why are we putting a price on our vaginas?" to which Maliya Michael responded:

MALIYA MICHAEL: Animals put prices on their vaginas. I hate that topic because animals put prices on their vaginas. Like goats, cows. You just don't see them mate with every [other goat or cow]. Like I went to a Safari and I saw antelopes. I was observing, I observe my environments. Antelopes were separate and then the dominant antelope had all the females, and then the other ones were in another section, the guy carrying us around said they were called bachelors or something like that. And the thing just made me think. In reality, the men that actually have more to give should be the ones to pass on their genes. Because honestly, you're not offering anything, you're not helping, what are you going to give the children to eat? Won't they go to school? Forget about me, I will be good, but what am I children going to eat? Cuz I know I don't want to be dealing with the stress of providing for my children alongside being your wife. I mean, I would rather just be alone and have a cat. It is not a do or die affair.

Hmmm. Maliya's comments have been very divisive. Some people have agreed with her saying that she is making some very valid points and insisting that it is indeed not do or die for men without money to marry, while some other people are against her saying that her statements are eugenicist in implying that only the rich people should be the ones permitted to have children. What do you think about Maliya Michael said about this topic? I'm very interested in seeing your thoughts.
