Nigerian singer Waje is very popular for her music that includes hit singles like For A Minute, So Inspired, I Wish, Coco Baby, and recently Vibes featuring her The Voice Nigeria co-mentor Falz The Bahd Guy.

During a new interview with Buzz Convo, Waje opened up about how the song came about, her time on The Voice Nigeria, and how she tried but failed to compete in The Voice (USA). Here's what Waje said about it all.

Waje on Boom Convo

"You and Falz have a new song called Vibes together. Did making that song with Falz come as a result of you both working on The Voice?"

Actually yes, because his chair was always next to mine. And during breaks we always had time to chat and just chill. I've always been a fan of Falz, I think he's an amazing artiste. What he does with his lyrics and how he makes it so relatable. Usually when I find people who their talents and their gifts resonate with me, I always want to be in that same workspace with them. So I reached out to him and said "see we haven't worked together, how about we do a song together?" and he was like "oh yeah, that's true". So definitely, The Voice brought us together.

"Speaking of The Voice, when you were approached with being a judge and nurturing talent on The Voice Nigeria, how did that make you feel?"

You will not get. I was so excited, not because of the nurturing talent, I know you all want to feel like Waje is so sweet and she's humble. I am, but it wasn't because of you. It was because I had considered being a contestant in the U.S. version and while I was filling my form, I realized that I had to be a resident of the U.S. for me to be a contestant. So couple years down the line, I'm now a coach. Imagine. So for me that was the miracle for me. And I was Waje oh! It's not like people did not know I was Waje. But my brother, who don blow for the U.S, e dey different (laughs). So I tried and I realized it was only residents of U.S. at the time so when I was called and told a show was coming up and I was going to be a coach on The Voice, I felt like oh my God, what other way to be a part of the brand itself. Sometimes when I go, especially for international gatherings, and they're introducing me and say "she's also a coach on The Voice", everybody just looks at me different like "okay, there's some substance in there" (laughs).

Wow! What a story. The Voice (USA) did not work but alas, The Voice came right to her doorstep. Look at life.
