Why I'm Never Doing Nigerian Idol Again - Seyi Shay
Seyi opens up about infamous gig

Nigerian superstar singer Seyi Shay caused quite a lot of conversation when she made her judging debut and run on last year's Nigerian Idol competition. After a year as a judge on the popular and prestigious show, Seyi Shay left the judging panel. This year, she and other judge on her season DJ Sose were replaced by singers Simi and D'Banj. The season went on to still be a roaring success but a number of people still missed Seyi Shay and wished she was on the show.
Well, for anybody wishing for Seyi Shay to come back, you might have to wish for something different as the Big Girl crooner says she has no desire whatsoever to come back and do the show again. Here's what Seyi Shay said.

Speaking with Boom Convo about her time on Nigerian Idol and how she's not doing it again, Seyi Shay said:
Being a judge on Nigerian Idol this year was one of the most challenging jobs I've ever done in my life because I had so much backlash. A lot of people were not expecting me to be on their TV screens everyday for six months. They were not ready. But I think by the end of it, I made some great new fans and Nigeria found a sweetheart because I'm not a bad person. I feel like in the beginning when you have to be strict and find a superstar for your country, you gotta be firm. But by the end of that Nigerian Idol journey, I fell in love more with my job and the show and my fans and vice versa. So it was a great experience all in all. I am not doing it again though. I'm not doing that kind of thing again, no, thank you!
"Why aren't you going back? Why aren't you doing it again?"
No oh. I think that era is gone. I did it. Came, saw, conquered. Like, I'm good. It was a really challenging time and it took a whole six months of my year. I couldn't do anything else. Now, I have loads of other exciting things to unravel to the world so I won't be doing the next season cuz I'm a big girl now and we gotta move. But I loved it, I'm not going to take that away.
"How did you handle all the backlash?"
I hope you guys know me by now. I no too dey concern myself with wetin people dey think about me. What I think about me every morning when I look in the mirror is what matters because eventually people will start to see what you see about yourself. So I've kept that energy for my whole run. So I just went on Nigerian Idol, did the job that they paid me to do, enjoyed every minute of it, and by the end of the show, everybody loved me and I loved everybody because they knew that what I was doing by being quite firm but also honest was necessary. Reality is my middle name, I'm too real. Don't hate me.

Well, I for one sure enjoyed Seyi Shay on the show and would have loved her to return for a future season. But what do you think? Let me know what you think about Seyi Shay's thoughts and decision by leaving a comment either below or on my Jide Okonjo Facebook post.
