Why Having My Blue (American) Passport Is Worth More Than Millions - Davido

Davido talks passports

One thing that even the most patriotic Nigerian will tell you is that having a green passport can sometimes comes with its own challenges. With a Nigerian passport, one is not able to travel to a lot of foreign countries without undergoing long, expensive, and sometimes unfruitful visa processes. Also, even if one does get the visa, simply because one has a Nigerian passport, in foreign countries, it can lead to profiling and an extra cautious eye when it comes to dealings with you versus people with passports from other countries.

The conversation about passports is in the air today because Nigerian singer Davido during an interview in America opened up about how having a blue passport is worth more than millions to him. Some people have criticized the singer for saying this, while others say that he's spoken nothing but the truth. Here is what Davido had to say.

Speaking about being born in the USA and having a blue passport, Davido said:

DAVIDO: Being born over in the USA was because my parents had the means to bring me over here. I didn't come out saying I was born in America. People thought I lived in Nigeria. It's later on, like three years, four years down the line in my career that I started telling people like I did go to the US for college and stuff like that. It wasn't like I was introduced as an American artiste in Nigeria. Oh no. I've been in the streets back home. The only thing is that I could fly anytime I wanted. Like, go to America anytime I wanted. It is beautiful, you don't even understand. Till date, I don't care how much money you got, that blue passport is worth more than a million dollars, I'm telling you. Cuz like just even with like booking venues, it's crazy. For example, we're going to Australia for tour so it's like to get into Australia is so hard. So even part of like my band members, they're getting into difficulty even trying to get their papers just because of that Nigerian passport. But obviously, it's kinda easier for me because of the blue passport. So that's kinda like an example of how it has been easy for me.
