Why Being Signed to Billionaire Didn't Help Me - Spyro
Spyro opens up

In case you did not know for some reason, the music industry in any part of the world is very hard to break into. Here in Nigeria, it is the same thing. Trying to find people who believe in your talent and also have the structure, means, and expertise to take your music career to great heights is not easy. Sometimes, people think "oh if I can just find somebody with money, my entire career will pop off", but that is also not always the case. Just having a rich person behind you is not always enough if that person has no expertise, time, or experience working in the industry, and that is something that Nigerian singer, Spyro, is now opening up.
During a new interview with Cool FM, the "Who's Your Guy" singer, Spyro, opened up about getting signed to billionaire, Paulo, and how that didn't favor him at all, so much so that he even had to take loans from the bank to still fund his music career. Here is what Spyro said.

Speaking about his experience being signed to a billionaire's label and not getting anything from it, Spyro said:
SPYRO: I was signed to a label couple of years back. I think in 2017. I was signed to Upfront and Personal, the music label, owned by Paul O. Paul O is a fantastic person, but at that particular time when I got signed to the label, Paul O didn’t have my time. He has his hands full. He is a busy man and is always flying here and there. And I was just there stuck. I was there for two years and nothing was happening. I was there for two years. No form of promotion whatsoever.
And everyone out there was looking at me that ‘you there, you’re signed to a billionaire, you should be popping. People that were funding me before stopped because they felt like ‘you are now signed to Paulo. So why would I fund you? “So, at some point, I will just stay back home and cry and be like what kind of life is this? I had parents and responsibilities, and money wasn’t coming forth from any angle. It was very frustrating.
When I dropped ‘Funke’ and the song popped. I had Davido and Mayorkun on the song. After dropping ‘Funke’ and my career still went down, I’m like, ‘Oh! Am I ever gonna rise again? I popped but I just came down because there was no structure. There was nothing. I took a loan from the bank to finance that particular record while I was still signed to Upfront & Personal. When that period passed, I now had to start paying for the loan. That was difficult because I paid for like three years.
Paul O is the billionaire CEO of Upfront and Personal Bookings, and has worked with a number of talents ranging from Wizkid to Tekno, and more.
