What Kind of Work-Life Balance Do You Dream About?

As a freelance writer, it might just be this

When the alarm goes off every morning, and you're fighting sleep during your commute, do you ever wish you could just hit the snooze button and sleep in a bit, working at a time when you feel most alert?

Or better, working at a time when you dang well felt like it?

Or do you hate dropping your kids off at daycare, knowing there's an opportunity out there for you to be their nurturing caretaker instead? Maybe your spouse has vacation time accrued, but you don't, so the family has to say no to vacation because your boss won't allow the time off.

Those darn bosses seem to ruin everything.

Becoming a freelance writer means you set your schedule. This is one of the most sought-after perks people look for as a work-from-anywhere writer. The flexibility will provide more personal satisfaction than anything else.

You can work as many hours (or as few) as you want to. Because of automation options, you can set things up to earn for you while you're on vacation when you're not feeling well, or even if you want to take the day off and attend a parent-teacher conference or school play one day.

Flexibility means you set the hours you work regularly. You can work the same hours you would have worked offline, 8-5, if you want to. But maybe you want to work from 10 AM to 2 PM or 9 PM to 1 AM. Whatever works, whatever fits, whatever you desire.

Whatever you feel works best for you, you can do it.

In fact, you can split your workday up. You might want to work from 9 AM to 12 PM and from 5 PM to 8 PM. As long as you're contributing to the growth of your writing business, that's all that matters.

This frees you up for a lot of beneficial self-care. You can have time to prepare nutritious meals, get some exercise throughout your day, or even go for a massage. If you want to take a break between work tasks, you can. In fact, you can even take a midday nap without having to worry about your boss catching you.

The power of freelance writing gives you the flexibility and freedom to create a work-life balance that works for YOU. It's time to start dreaming bigger and make those dreams come true. You don't have to fit into anyone else's mold. You can make your own dream work-life balanced reality.

I'd even go far as to say that the world is waiting for you to create it!

You don't have to continue dreaming. You can start living the life of balance and freedom you desire today. What kind of work-life balance do you dream about? Let's make it a reality.

It's time to start chasing your dreams and saying goodbye to the traditional 9-5 grind. You can live the life of balance you have always wanted.

There won't be anyone there to look over your shoulder and warn you if you stop watching Netflix for a bit.

When you work for yourself, it takes your commitment to a whole new level. You'll be filled with enthusiasm because you're putting your own ideas into action. In fact, you might work more hours just because you enjoy it and are excited about it – unlike you feel about your current job.

But the real question is: is this even really work in the way that we've always known work?

The final word

So, is freelance writing really work? In the traditional sense of the word, no. You're not punching a clock, and you're not stuck in an office chair from 9-5 (or 8-6 or 7-3). But that doesn't mean it's an easy street from there.

In fact, most successful freelancers will tell you that it takes a lot of hard work to achieve the level of success they've attained. The freedom and flexibility we talked about earlier come with a price: self-discipline and motivation. When you're working for yourself, there's nobody else to motivate you or keep you on track--it all falls on your shoulders. That's why so many people give up after just a few months of freelancing; it can be tough to stay motivated when there's nobody but yourself holding you accountable.

But if you have the drive and determination to make it happen, freelance writing can be one of the most rewarding career choices. Not only do you get to set your own hours and work from anywhere in the world, but you also get to choose who you work with and what projects you take on.

And as technology advances and more opportunities open up online, the possibilities are endless.
