What is Love?

Love is something we have all experienced before. Everybody has felt it at one time or another, be it for a person, pet, or even a non-living object. That feeling is love. Love is felt in different intensities; it may consume your whole being, or perhaps it’s just a little crush. Some people search for what seems like their whole lifetimes for love, whereas others may seem to fall in and out of love on a regular basis. We can love many things, and the love between two people is unique and special. For example, love is a deep affection, it could be an interest in someone or even just something you like to do. Love is something you feel, something you adore, it is just this weird feeling we all get that really makes us happy. Love is a powerful source in the entire universe.

When it comes to love, people automatically think of a person, but love is more than that. Love is a feeling, not just any feeling, a majestic one. Love is a feeling that makes you happy. Love is not something that makes you sad. Love brings joy and happiness into your life. It is not toxic, but it is safe and welcoming. Just imagine something, it can be anything. Does that make you happy? Getting that special feeling from something so small, yet it can make your entire day so much better. And the great thing about this is that you don’t need to win a medal or even show something off. That is not what love is...love is just a great feeling.

Now, what is love you may ask? Let’s take a step back and acknowledge that love comes in different forms. Remember when you were a kid and always played this one game? Well, we all once said that we loved it and probably still do. That is a type of love we had because it was what we enjoyed doing. It was something that made us happy and made us feel great about ourselves. Love doesn’t always have to be about a person. It can be about many things, such as playing games, going on trips, visiting someone, or even something as simple as a favorite song. Love isn’t about being perfect, because no one is perfect. We are all different in many ways, even when it comes to love itself.

A parent’s love for a child can also often be described as love at first sight, but this is very strong because it comes from a natural instinct to protect our child. This love can often start before the baby is even born: you only have to look at the pride and excitement of many parents-to-be when they have their scans and feel their baby kick for the very first time. This kind of love is also felt by a child for its mother; it is unconditional for at least the first few years of life, and can also be felt between siblings. People experience love for the first time by being part of a family. Family love is demonstrated through lessons of sacrifices and concerns and compassion. There are many different levels and conditions of family love. It is the love we cherish between our families.

Love is also a type of romantic feeling we get. We have all felt a weird feeling in our stomachs. We like to call those feelings butterflies. Love is rarely defined because everyone experiences it differently. What one person thinks is love, another may think is adoration or vice versa. How does one know he or she is in love? In order to understand love, we need to first understand what it really means to us. Think of your significant other. How do they make you feel? You got these butterflies that wouldn't go away. This feeling is not a sickness; it is actually love. When you first laid your eyes on that person, it felt like the world was revolving around you. You basically get nervous around them. Even the thought of them makes you nervous. That is love...love is that little weird feeling. When you think about them, you just hope they feel the same.

So, now that we can see the difference between romance, family love, and even just getting this anonymous feeling. Do we understand love better? Perhaps not. Everybody experiences love in a different way and may not agree with the definitions offered here. In the end, it doesn’t matter whether or not your kind of love fits into any category. Love is personal, and the important thing is that it makes people feel good. When people love each other, there is no room for hate.
