What I Think About Claims That Others Make Me Popular – Chike

Nigerian musician Chike is the latest guest on the popular Curiosity Made Me Ask show and during the interview, Isbae U asked the singer a number of controversial questions which some people have also echoed in different pockets on the internet, about the release of the song "Egwu" with Mohbad after Mohbad's death, and also about a lot of his hit songs being features with other artistes. Here is what Chike had to say to Isbae U's very interesting questions.

When first asked how he is managing the 'new fame' that Mohbad provided him with their song "Egwu", Chike responded:

CHIKE: I don't see a way of giving an answer without being disrespectful to somebody that I regarded as my friend or without dragging Mo's name into a conversation that personally I think is unnecessary. I'm managing the new celebrity life.

Then he was asked "Have you ever tried making hit songs without using the talent and glory of other superstars?" to which he responded:

CHIKE: I've tried, though I was successful a couple of times. Roju was very successful, I mean my paycheck says so for sure. Maybe do you know what a paycheck is? Have you ever seen a music paycheck before? Like an artist paycheck? Have you seen it before? If you're interviewing an artist you have to ask what the paycheck looks like so you're just more informed. Like what you're asking, have you ever seen an artist paycheck before? Roju, the paycheck is really good. That one for sure.

Then, he was asked "You dropped a song with Mohbad when everyone was grieving about his death. People say it's just to take advantage of the emotions at that moment. Are you proud of yourself?" to which Chike responded:

CHIKE: So um factually speaking, you are wrong. Absolutely wrong. I think the music came out maybe 3 months or about four even after his passing which, if I even want to talk about it, I wasn't really on the train of putting out the music. But that one is is for management and I was never on the train to put out the music. In fact, this is what my decision earlier was: I had said just give it to maybe NotJustOK, like free blogs. Let him just have it so people can hear the last work from the artist before, at least the last work that I know about, before he passed. Because there are like four songs, why haven't I released the other ones also?
