What I Did to Help Neglected Second and Third Contestants From Nigerian Idol - D’Banj
D'Banj opens up about Idol and life after

For most television programs, especially reality competition shows, the amount of time when the participants of the show have the most eyeballs on them is when the show is still showing on the air. After the show concludes, many of them get forgotten as the audience moves on to other things. The person who gets the longest amount of attention after the show concludes is almost always the winner.
This is what happens with most reality shows like The Voice Nigeria, Big Brother Naija, Nigerian Idol, etc. One of the shows on the latter mentioned show Nigerian Idol noticed this pattern and decided to do something about it. During an interview with Boom Convo, D'Banj opened up about what he did to help the first and second runner-ups from his season of Nigerian Idol. Here's what D'Banj said.

Speaking about Nigerian Idol and how he's helping neglected singers who didn't win the show, D'Banj said:
Last year I took on a very tasking role, I've never done it before, which is being a judge. Being a judge comes with a lot and we just concluded the season 7 of the Nigerian Idol. In case you didn't know, I already took the top 3 to studio a week before the show ended. Cuz I was watching the show and I knew that viewers would be voting but if we found talent, I felt like we needed to give them some kind of encouragement. And right after the show, nobody cares about the second or third. It's always about the winner. So we've been in the studio, we've worked together. The "Your Face Show" song came from the program as well. So I wasn't thinking about a project before but now there's a project. We have two songs already. I think some people who were watching the final may have heard one featuring the two top finalists, that's the winner and the second winner which is called Prayer.
In the making of a star, you're actually looking for the person - what kind of aura a person carries. When you walk into a room, you don't really necessarily have to say before we know who you are. I look at you and how you're dressed, somebody says "dress how you want to be addressed", how you speak, how confident are you. Being in a show like this, I met diverse talents that literally are great singers, but I wasn't looking for singers. If you look at me, I always tell people I'm an entertainer. The music gets you in the room, what you do in that room is totally up to you. So I can say that I met a lot of people who had the potential. I was glad it was my first time doing such a show so I was looking out for anyone who had anything like myself and I can tell you I saw at least 10. That's why we're working with them today and hopefully tomorrow, they will be superstars.

What a kind and wonderful thing for D'Banj to do. I really love this story!
