Visions Of A Blood Moon

A first glimpse of Rainn and Pyrrha

Dear Friend,

I wanted to share with you an excerpt of a story I plan to finish one day that I have dubbed The Chronicles of Night. This is the first view we get of the characters Rainn and Pyrrha. They are not a human couple as you will see, however they are also not what one might initially think. They are one of my favourite character pairings in all my stories. My OTP as one might say.

"Through a mist of haze and fog, a scene began to form before me.

Darkness shrouded the land that lay around and the air was still and quiet.

Forms began to take shape upon the earth, broken and crumbled.

Scattered throughout the faint gleam of fires flickered, burning slowly out.

Neither man nor creature could be seen in this desolate place.

Above the sky was dark and clear.

There were no stars to shed light on this despondent scene.

Soon the only light came from the full blood moon.

The scene began to fade away.

The red of the moon returning to its natural silvery white, as it shone over the beach that lay below. The waters were calm, waves crashing gently over the rocks and golden sands as I watched still lost in thought through the black frame of the window at which I sat.

Closing my eyes, I rested my head against the wall, taking in the tranquil sounds that lay beyond.

I was lost to my thoughts once more. Thoughts of the future, of the red moon that shone in the back of my mind, I wondered what it could mean. But these thoughts were soon overrun as more scenes flashed before my eyes, pushing the blood moon to back of my mind. These images were different, unlike the scene of desolation which was still a mystery to me, these I knew only too well. I could hear the voices echoing through my head. These new sounds were drowning out the ocean, pulling me deeper into the memories.

In the house below me the staircase creaked. It sounded so distant, so much further away than I knew it to be. I knew who it was far before she entered the room. Pyrrha was making herself known, usually she moved about in silence. I heard the footsteps draw nearer as she ascended the steps to the library and I tried to pull myself from my memories. I could tell she was aware of my thoughts, her concern seeping to me through our bond. I never could block her, our connection was far too strong. I felt her concern grow as her eyes lay upon my figure leaning against the wall. In a moment she was with me, her arms around me, and her long auburn hair falling loosely over my shoulder as she rested her chin there, pulling me to her. I could not help but melt into her.

My wife and I sat together in the dark of the room for a long time before she finally broke the silence. Her voice was soft and calming as she spoke to me now.

“My love”

“Si?”

“It is getting late, you have not been out.”

“I lost track of time…”

“It has been days, amour. Come with me.”

I turn to her, looking into those emerald eyes so filled with concern and a trace of sadness. I brushed back the silky hair that covered her face, watching as it fell back into place.

“Si,” I answered, lightly tracing a finger along her jaw, claiming her lips with my own in a kiss, “I feel a need for the night.”

"

Love always,

Brennan
