Like many times, I asked a question to my uncle who is over 60 years old. The question was: ‘What advice would you give to those who are half your age?’ Although the question is simple, the answers will surprise you.

This is what I am doing since I was 18. Today I am sharing with you the most important advice I collected so far. Read their answers below because it is better to keep in mind their valuable advice and act accordingly before it is too late!

  1. People always say, ‘Try to have a job that you love.’ But that’s not the best advice. The right job is the one you love a few days, tolerating most days and paying the bills. Hardly anyone has a job that they love every day.
  2. The years pass quickly. Do not marry young. Live your life. Travel to places. Do things. Whether you have the means or not. Take a bag and go where you can. As long as you do not have obligations yet. See the world. Browse travel magazines, choose a place, and leave!
  3. Do not take life seriously. Even when things are dark and without any hope, try to laugh at how funny life is.
  4. A real friend will come running if you call him at 2 in the morning. Everyone else is just acquaintances.
  5. The most important person in your life is the person who agreed to share life with you. Be careful how you treat him.
  6. Children grow up very fast. Spend as much time as you can with them.
  7. No one died wishing they had worked harder. Work hard but do not make work a priority. First family, friends, or even yourself.
  8. Maybe you live a lot or a little, who knows. But, believe me when I say that you wish you had taken better care of yourself in your youth.
  9. If you are carried away by the rhythm of life, just concentrate on the now and save all this beauty. Take a deep breath and relax.
  10. Eat and exercise as if you are diabetic and have a heart attack, so you will not become one of them.
  11. We have only one life on this Earth. Do not wake up one morning and realize that you did not do anything you dreamed of.
  12. This may not be as deep as the others, but I think it’s important. Brush your teeth, tooth problems are awful.
  13. Do not take the advice of others as gospel. You can seek advice from someone you respect, then think about your situation and make your own decision. Basically, I advise you to consult yourself…
  14. Things are just things. Do not hold on to material objects. Stay away from time and experiences.
  15. He who could not harm you today will take revenge on you later. Even if you think it came together completely. Believe me!
  16. Appreciate the little things and live in the present. What do I mean? We will not be in this life for long. Young people miss the moment in the present and do not pay attention to the little things. But these are the things we must keep. Instead of writing a message, pick up the phone and talk to someone. Call your mother for no reason, so you can talk.
  17. Pay your bills and stay out of debt. If I had not paid so much interest, I would not have had to work now.
  18. Jealousy destroys the relationship. Show confidence in the other half, if you do not trust it, then who else will you trust?
  19. If you have a dream to do something or to become something and it seems impossible, try it. It will become even more impossible as you grow up and take responsibility for other people.
  20. When you meet someone for the first time, stop and think that you know nothing about him. You see race, gender, age, clothes. Forget it all. You know nothing. These conclusions are thrown into your mind because your brain wants to categorize, limit your life and the lives of others.
