Update. Is TikTok back in the App Store after the ban?
When will TikTok be available in the App Store?
The popular app known for it’s short videos; Tiktok, was prematurely banned on January 18 in the United States by ByteDance, even though it was supposed to take place on the 19th of this month. TikTok, and the app’s providers (App Stores) took immediate action on Saturday in order to avoid being penalized with fines that can cost billions of dollars for violating laws.
The day after the ban took place, it was restored, and running again with a message from Shou Zi Chew saying; “Thanks for your patience and support. As a result of President Trump’s efforts, TikTok is back in the U.S.”. Unfortunately, many users who previously contained the app on their phones deleted TikTok, thinking it was the end of it. TikTok is back in the United States yay!! That is great news! Except for the people who took it down from their devices after seeing the ban messages on their phones on Saturday. Now that TikTok is active again, those people who deleted the app can no longer reinstall it back into their devices. Google and Apple have not made it available for users to download or update, even though the ban has been paused.
Anylists are assuming that google and Apple are waiting on some sort of protection against any penalties for making the app available again. I don’t blame them, it’s better to be safe than sorry for a couple billion dollars. Now, all that’s left to do is wait for the app stores to put TikTok available again for download or for a response.
There has been a lot of offers to buy a peice of TikTok including; James Stephen Donaldson (Mr. Beast) who went as far as making a video on Instagram displaying a suitcase with money ready for the buy. Other potential buyers are Microsoft, Bobby Kotic, Amazon, Doug McMillon and Ellon musk just to name a few.
There is still a lot of stress and pressure on the potential of what TikTok may become after it is sold, and how it will operate. The president states that he wants the United States to own 50% of the company, honestly that’s a lot to ask. Even though, ByteDance has mentioned in the past that they are not interested in selling TikTok, there is still some hope that this app can be saved.
Many users have been speculating that if ByteDance where to sell to the United States then the algorithm that made the app so popular may be ruined. There may be more changes as well in the future that are unknown to us at the moment.
Other apps like Rednote are beginning to gain popularity since the ban.
With recent updates, ByteDance is looking for alternative ways to abide by law with its apps without having to sell to the United States. Bill Ford publicly announce that they are discussing solutions to run their apps while still complying with US legislation.
There is still a lot of hope for TikTok, with a lot of people patiently waiting for a resolution.
Tiktok is not just another social media app, it means comunity for many people. It gives an open space for everyone to express themselfs and their opinions. It gives everyone a voice and brings people together. In other cases TikTok has created many jobs, and has helped in difficult times financially, and emotionally. There isn’t an app like this one anywhere else, that has a great algorithm, and that helps users grow and businesses boom.
I will be giving more updates in the next couple of weeks so stay tuned and subscribe so you won’t miss anything. Thank you for reading and much love.
