To Night Owls, Do YOU Thrive In Darkness?

Night Owls Vs. The Rest Of The World

By Let's NOT Sugarcoat It with T. NicholPublished 4 years ago 4 min read

Now, Humans, it's great, wonderful, and beautiful for you to be a morning person. A matter of a fact, I love morning people because you are responsible for getting the goods that I want in the stores that I visit; you are the ones who stock the items that I purchase; and you are the ones who open those stores, every morning. So, morning people are needed, appreciated, and valued - 150%.

But for me, I am a night owl.

YOU: "How is this possible, Tiffany? What human - in their right mind - is going to be awake when most humans are sleeping?"

Me: "Well, listen to yourself - you said when MOST humans are sleeping. That means I'm the exception to the rule. But WHY am I a night owl is the more important question."

Well, the overall reason for being a night owl is because I don't like a lot of the things that happen, during the day, like:

1. I don't like the sounds of human voices.

Humans usually want to visit, during the day, and usually that's when I prefer to sleep. So, I don't want visitors between the hours of 9 and 5, specifically, 9pm and 5pm.

Yes.

You read, correctly.

I only have a 4-hour block for visitors, every day.

2. I don't like random music from my neighbors.

I mean, at least play some Tank or Keith Sweat, but you'll drive through the neighborhood blasting some annoying music that lets the entire neighborhood know that you are a Trap Queen or King. I'm sorry, but Trap music sounds the same to me; It either has a mumble rapper on the track, or the beat sounds like The Amigos.

Oh! It's Migos?

Well, either way it goes, there is no originality in music, today.

3. I don't like noise, period.

My mother used to have solo concerts in her room. The only issues that I had, with this situation, was that 1. I was never invited. I mean, I know I'm an L7, and my mother was always hipper than me, but dang! She Could have still considered me, sometimes?! 2. The DJ - which was my mother - only played music she liked. 3. Half of the time, it was trap music that was being played, which I don't like - unless it's Migos.

By the way, I really like Migos. Their music is so creative.

Or if my mom went from her solo concert to her movie marathons, on Netflix, she would put her Airpods in her ear. But then it would be my grandfather who ran a mini marathon, back and forth, outside, to smoke - which was oddly loud.

He should have won a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest time on a single phone call because this man talked on his phone from the time he woke up until literally moments before bedtime. I don't want to work at a call center, where my job is to answer phones, all day, yet my grandfather could talk on the phone, for hours, so effortlessly.

4. I don't like having to leave the house for anything.

I'm a true homebody. If I could work from home, that would be a dream come true. If I could make a living by simply creating content, that brings value to other humans, I would - in the comforts of my home. Plus, I must attend doctor's appointments, go grocery shopping, and complete other errands while other humans are in public, too?

Now, that's insane to me!

At night, humans are not going to need you to do anything. No one is going to need you to go to the store, in the middle of the night, or run an errand of any kind, which means nighttime gives you more time to focus on yourself, and what you enjoy doing - which may be nothing.

5. I don't like when someone asks me, "How are you doing, this morning?"

And I must lie, because saying "I'm sleepy, and I don't want to be bothered with you, at the moment" is unacceptable in society, today. I mean, it should never be acceptable to be rude to humans, but I wish I could at least be more honest.

I mean, give me time to wake up - like Noon - and then maybe I will be in a better mood.

6. I don't like the sounds that my phone makes, all day.

You know how humans complain about their phone being dry?

YOU: "Man, nobody has called or texted me, today."

You will never hear me say that statement because the way I see it, the less conversations, the more peace I have in my life.

Besides, if I really want to talk, I will call you. It may be more like an email or a smoke signal, but I will reach out when I'm ready.

I said all of that to say this:

Nighttime is the best time. WHY?

· Visitors are sleeping in their own houses

· The neighbors are making noise at the clubs and bars - not in the neighborhood

· About 95% of the city is closed

· I don't have to deal with cheerful humans because they are regaining their cheerful energy by sleeping, right now

· My household has gone from 100 to 10 with the noise levels

· It's acceptable for me to put my phone on silence - and Do Not Disturb - because nobody is thinking about me if their eyeballs are shut

Overall, at night, I can get my creative juices, flowing, to create content that includes honesty, humor, and value.

Let me leave you with this:

Rather, you wake up with the roosters, or you gain energy from the darkness, use that time to not only help others, and deal with the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but to work on yourself: professionally, physically, spiritually, and/or creatively.

Until Next Time, My Humans.
