The moon cast a silvery hue over the roof tops and spill down into the rain washed cobbled lane. She pulled her red rain coat tighter as the cool breeze of the chilly winter night tugged at it’s opening. Finally she stopped and stood still in front of an vine covered cottage where a glowing light shone brightly from the downstair’s pane glass window.
I remember the first time I met him. I was shopping for grocery and took a lemon off the high pile and they all fell on the super market floor- he just happen to be a customer standing behind me. He helped me to pick them up as I kept saying over and over to the grocery helper how sorry I was.
I thank him for helping and rush to my car.
To my surprise he turned out to be my exchanged Art professor at the university.
When i entered the class room for the first time, I recognized him snd found i was instantly attracted to him.
His curly black hair fell aimlessly over his left eye and his crooked smile enticed me.
I was in school to get my Masters in Art History. This was the last class before I graduates.
After class I was going out the door when a sudden gust of wind hit me full in the face. Then the rain drops began to fall and suddenly the teacher appeared beside me with his umbrella holding it over my head.
May I? He asked .
Thank you I replied.
We walked over to the campus coffee shop and he brought me a cup of coffee.
It was romantic and we couldn’t stop talking about almost everything. He was such an interesting person and the type of man I have been looking for all my life.
That night I went with my friend girl to an student Art exhibit and he was there. I wore my prettiest short cocktail dress and by the way he looked at me I could see he approved.
He had come with an attractive teacher who obviously was very interested in him as she boldly cling to his arm.
I was standing looking at a painting when he came and stood looking at the same painting. I felt the magnetic pill of his presence.
He took a sip of his wine from the wine glass he was holding and said, come with me! I turned to him in surprise.
What? She asked.
Come with me to Europe.
You can’t be serious- she asked.
I am! I have to go back tomorrow due to an family emergency- .
He came closer to her. She could feel his warm breath on her face.
I’ve been watching you and class and you can’t tell me you don’t feel it too.I feel like I’ve know you forever!
She looked up at him. Yes, she felt it too she thought but she could not just don’t walk away from the life you have always know to an possible dead end and heart break, or do you?
Come here- he took her hand snd led her on the balcony. He took her in his arms and kissed her and she knew form the way he kissed her thst he meant every word!
Then she looked at him and said I can’t.
Sadness filled his eyes and he gently released her as though he was an inflated ballon that lost all it’s air.
If that what you truly feels I understand.
He looked at me as though he was searching for something in my eyes.
Then he turned and walked away not looking back.
I felt something wet roll down my cheeks. Cold long tears fell from my eyes. I quickly brushed them away with my hands.
A week went by and a new teacher took his place. I found myself not even wanting to class for I only saw him standing there and my nights were filled with dreams of us together.
So here I am here in Europe. I got his address from the University from a good friend that worked in the business office.
I thought to herself, should I turn around and go back to the train station? No one would know that I had ever come. I looked at the white roses hanging over the door and could smell the sweet perfume. I could hear the music playing our favorite song when we get one in the future and smell the bread baking in the oven.
Then I knew there was no turning around — this was my destiny - this was my home from now on and I wasn’t running away from what I felt for him deep in my life.
When she got almost to the door- it suddenly opened and he was standing there in his jeans and casual blue Jean shirt. He didnt seem surprised but gave her that sideway smile that always made her heart skip a beat.
I rushed to him, as he held his arms open waiting for me. I almost slipped down on the damp porch. I melted into his arms as his mouth came crushing down on mine with intense passion.
From that night on I gladly accepted my fate and nothing -no nothing can come between us. Our wedding was a week later in the small town chapel down the hill.
