There was a time when I used to wake up every morning with a heavy feeling in my chest. Even before getting out of bed, my mind would start racing:
- Did I answer that email?
- What if I mess up today’s meeting?
- Why am I always behind?
I didn’t need coffee. I was already wide awake—thanks to anxiety.
Like many people, I tried all kinds of things: breathing exercises, meditation apps, walks, cutting caffeine. They helped a little, but nothing seemed to truly make a difference long-term.
Until one day, I tried something so small and simple, I didn’t think it would work.

That’s it. I started writing one single page every morning—by hand, on paper.
Not for work.

The best part? It didn’t take hours. I didn’t need a special setup.
Just 10 quiet minutes each morning. Pen. Paper. And honesty.
Sometimes I wrote about dreams I had.
Sometimes I just wrote the same sentence over and over because that’s all I had.
But even that helped.
It was like telling my mind, “I hear you. You don’t have to hold it all inside.”

I started looking forward to mornings. My anxiety didn’t disappear, but it softened. It became easier to manage.
I felt more in control of my day because I took a moment to check in with myself first.
And that tiny habit gave me a big sense of peace.
