The story of the post-80s Yao youth returning home to plant tea

Six years ago, He Xu, a young man born in the 1980s in Huangsha Yao ethnic village of Lingui County, Guilin City, returned to his hometown and tried to grow kiwi fruit and tea with several friends. Six years have passed, how is He Xu's business? Let's go to Huang Sha He Xu's tea garden.
He Xu stir-fries tea every night and picks tea during the day, instructs workers, and observes the growth of tea trees. He is busy all day long.
In a voice of opposition and doubt, Yao youth He Xu iron heart to return home to plant tea
Today, many people in Huangsha talk about He Xu with the thumbs-up that he is a great guy and a capable guy because he has successfully grown organic tea in the area and created a new industry.
He Xu's tea garden is less than a 10-minute drive from the Huangsha township government. The tea garden is in a valley, beyond the Huaping National Nature Reserve, shrouded in fog. On both sides of the valley were thick forests, and in the valley and the basin of the high mountains were rows of thick tea trees, blooming with new buds and turning green and yellow.
Tea plantations spread out along the river valley. Twos and threes of peasant women wearing bamboo hats and aprons were busy picking tea in the tea garden. See the arrival of the reporter, He Xu came up and talked to the reporter about his entrepreneurial story.
Huangsha is more than 100 li away from the city of Lingui, and it takes nearly three hours by car. There is no factory here, is remote, economic conditions are backward, and people mostly rely on the cultivation of bamboo, fir, and some herbs to survive. In recent years, young people have gone out to work. In a town with a population of 5,000, there are only 2,000 permanent residents.
After graduating from technical secondary school, Mr. He worked as a chef for several years and helped a Hong Kong company promote red-heart kiwi cultivation in Guilin.
Unlike most rural youth, He Xu always wanted to do something, especially to go back to his hometown Huangsha to make a difference. In this way, a Taiwanese friend gave him an idea by chance. He suggested: "Can we grow tea?"
His friend's proposal aroused the interest of He Xu and his companions. So he took everyone to his hometown yellow sand field inspection, took soil samples to the agricultural department of Lingui for testing, went to Fujian, Jiangxi, Liuzhou three rivers, and other places to learn, and also invited Guangxi tea experts to do their technical guidance. After repeated research, He thought growing tea could be a try.
When his parents learned that He Xu was going back to his hometown to plant tea, they firmly objected. They begged, "We'd rather give you the mill we're running and all the money we have at home, so don't be ridiculous."
"Even if you gave me all your money, it would be only a little. That's not what I want." He Xu believes that from all aspects of the investigation, yellow sand tea conditions are extremely superior: cold, wet, rainy, and pollution-free. Guilin people generally drink tea, but they don't grow tea here. Why don't we grow tea?
Huangsha Weiling Village branch Secretary Zuo Jiming also told reporters, that at that time, many people think that Huangsha this place is such a like, hundreds of years of people have not changed what trick, you a young child can how?
When he failed to grow kiwi fruit, planting tea made him feel the joy of success
Just at that time, Lingui vigorously support the cultivation of kiwi, we actively suggested that He Xu tea at the same time, try to plant kiwi.
He Xu listened to everyone's advice, rented land planted 60 mu kiwi, and 60 mu tea.
Fast forward three years, He Xu lives with friends all day, guarding more than 100 mu of kiwi fruit and tea garden, waiting for harvest.
At the turn of spring and summer in 2014, the kiwifruit blossomed and needed to be pollinated by hand. However, short flowering, only a week or so, this season yellow sand more rain, not a moment of powder, kiwifruit will not bear fruit; Forced pollination of some fruit, but also because of the long-term rainy, humid weather, easy to live insects, growth is not good.
Although the kiwifruit in Lingchuan, resources and other places are planted successfully, even if the same is in Lingui, south of the mountain are planted successfully, but He Xu in yellow sand planting but this problem. This was a big blow to He Xu, who had started his own business with great ambition.
In contrast to kiwi planting, He Xu's tea plants grow very well. The rainy and foggy climate is conducive to the growth of tea trees. When He Xu saw the tea trees growing well, He gradually expanded the planting area, and now the whole tea garden has nearly 400 mu.
As He expanded, He learned how to make tea. He first picked fresh tea from the tea garden every day and then spread green, green, rolling, drying, titian, step by step methodically.
After repeated attempts in 2014 and 2015, He Xu brought his tea to the tea market in Guilin for everyone to taste. Somewhat to his surprise, the reviews were good and many merchants rushed to buy it. He Xu's spring tea costs up to 1,600 yuan per catty, and you have to pay for it in advance.
"For tea, we have no experience in planting, but the yellow sand is backed by Huaping National Nature Reserve, where the environment is very unique and superior. At the same time, we use an organic fertilizer such as peanut bran and stick to green planting, so the quality of the tea will be better." He Xu told reporters that tea can be picked in spring, summer, and autumn 3 seasons, with the lowest output in spring, according to the current planting level, each mu of land can only produce dry tea 10 jins, plus the output of summer and autumn, the income of each mu of land can reach more than 20,000 30,000 yuan.
The tea garden also brought benefits to the nearby farmers, and he also led them to become rich together
From 2015 to now, He Xu's tea garden can be seen to reap the benefits, and farmers in nearby villages can also take advantage of his light to work outside their homes to earn money. The tea garden needs help weeding, fertilizing, pruning and management. Nearby farmers come to help with the work, and each person earns about 80 yuan a day. He Xu pays farmers 40 yuan per catty for picking tea in spring. Generally, each person can pick 3-5 jin of tea green every day and can get 120-200 yuan of labor costs.
As the tea garden changed day by day, the locals gradually changed their opinion of He Xu. They felt that there was something different about the young man.
He Xu's efforts also let many local people in Huangsha see that for hundreds of years no one has cultivated the barren mountains, and can also grow good tea, in exchange for a lot of money, they asked to follow He Xu tea. He Xu also plans to lead everyone to establish a cooperative, and expand the scale, with the villagers on the road to prosperity.
Standing in He Xu's tea garden, listening to he tells the story of his own business, he feels the success and failure, bitter and happy. Besides the tea garden, the old river water gushing, green pieces of tea forest extended to the distance, very beautiful.
