Sensors vs Intuitives in singing

The singing of Sensors vs Intuitives (or Se vs Ne)

I found it interesting to explore the differences between Se and Ne in singing. Typically sensors that user SE are more commonly seen in pop music, such as ESFP, ISFP, or feeling or perceiving types in general.

The SE or (extraverted sensing) users seem a bit more creative in their singing. Examples - Bob Dylan (ISFP), Britney Spears (ESFP), Michael Jackson (ISFP), Cyndi Lauper (ESFP), Bjork (ISTP), etc… Perhaps it was more like about ‘being different’. SE is usually more about a focus on STYLE… Or even expressing their own INDIVIDUAL STYLE.

Ne users seemed more like they were just talking, Ed Sheeran (INFP), Katy Perry (ENFP), Laura Marling (INFP). Interesting how these users used Si which usually made made them more physically withholding. The introverts seemed more reserved or withholding, or someone. There were even extroverts that seemed more withholding -Tori Amos, ENFP, and Grimes ENFP. While they seemed 'individual' it ENFP is a very creative and emotional, sometimes described as the most 'introverted of extroverted type' so the singing may have seemed more individual or withheld.

I usually found myself wanting to listen to SE users singing on repeat more in general. Stylistic differences aside, not to saying the Ne singers were ‘bad’. It could be ecause Se is more about physicality or physical intelligence, this is also a factor to consider. Interesting how these users also had Si which will usually come across as less physically confident and aggressive.

Singers like Bob Dylan or Britney Spears had an INDIVIDUAL or unique style. Though it wasn't a 'big sound' commonly seen as desirable in pop music, there was a physical intelligence to the singing. They seemed to be using a more constricted sound that was effective. Bjork was another example who used a child-like belt sound which was also unique and appealing.

Then there are the intuitives less commonly seen in pop music like INFJ or INTJ. Alanis Morissette also seemed like an SE user, I had suspected ENFJ. She also struck me as individual and spontaneous style of Se in her vocal style, and seemed like an Se user I might listen to on repeat. The individual style and also physical intelligence made the singing desirable to listen to.

In contrast, Si singing might have stayed consistent and not deviated or experimented with different tones as much. Si users would use their vocals in a consistent way that might have seemed somehow less individual yet still effective. The Se would change around while the Si singing had the tendency to remain the same with less focus on individuality or being different. The style of Si singing had a closer element to seeming like they were 'just talking' or they weren't wanting to stray from consistency or even monotony.

Based on this criteria it seems that SE users are prominent in pop music and inclined to vocals that would have a sense of unpredictability experimentation. This was seen in both sensors and intuitives where both had a sense of experimentalism and individuality. In Si singers they could be individual yet they tend to stay consistent in their tone and not experiment with different tones as frequently.

This was thought provoking. Thank you for sharing this. I like studying the MBTI types and I enjoy singing. I've never thought about type and singing style so this was fascinating.
