The Night Before Valentine's

It was All Through My Heart

By Jay LeTron DobbinsPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

There is no need to settle, no need for Galentine's, but have your fun! However, as I make preparation and plans for you to be my prize, but this day I see so much anticipation, for you not to even be there. As go through my list of slow jams, but the time goes so fast getting my thoughts lost on you. Saw a dress the other day that would look so good on you, but far from your heart, knowing your dress size was the greatest clue. However, it was the night before Valentine's, and I messed up sending those flowers in box to you.

Went on Open Table and made reservations for you and I! However, it was just an endless fantasy because the candles would only light my face, and your empty seat. However, as I think this over and as I hear the rain fall on the DFW skyline, my thoughts are with trying to see a natural smile for you. I often smile as I think about pulling your seat and opening your doors! This night before Valentine's, I think of good things to place in your heart and present before your eyes.

Surely, I can recover from the box flowers, but it was honestly a good try just to say hello. Trust, I have much more class than that, and I can assure you that I could be more than the perfect match. However, I sit here think about all the failed relationships, but I still think about nights like this of wanting to prepare the next day just for you. Many will say don't hold your head down because there are others and the sun shall rise again. Somehow, I'm cool with nights like this, thinking about a day, centered just around you.

What amount of courage, or foolishness some would say, that I have to put these words out of deaf ears and blind eyes? It is the same amount of hope that a young would have when he is trying to impress a woman on a first date. The same amount of nervousness, a man will have approaching a woman who may seem to be looking the right way. The same heart rate beating in a man who may even ask for a woman's hand in marriage. For my heart is build with hope and as the time ticks away on a night like this, you smile is not even seen, but already missed.

Next, verse! Wrote a song about you the other night, but I was way too shy to even show it you. However, the night like this, will have me revealing all kinds of stuff and the security of my vulnerability can just take a long walk, for my only mission right now, is to take a long walk with you. I could care less with what others think or say, just know that preparation for you on this next day will always stay. However, I cannot get in, if your heart won't let me.

Yet, the rain will continue to drop and the thoughts will continue to flow. As everyone is spending the day with cheer and smiles, trading small gifts and relaxing to a night's good time, my thoughts would be on your smile. I'm good with this moment and I'm good with this thought because just know that guys are still out here thinking about having a special day with a special woman, just like you.

So roses are red, and violets are blue, I could of thought about a catchy phrase, but all I want to do is get next to you. Happy Valentine's Day, Alexis!
