The Negative Eyes

You post, you loose! Freedom?

Posting on social media is almost as dangerous as a false accusation! All it takes is for one person to misread, misinterpret, or not even read at all a post and miscommunication to another can with their twisted thoughts, cost the author of the post a great deal of unwanted attention!

As Ice T once named one of his albums, “Freedom of speech, just watch what you say” has never had greater meaning than more so today! One would say just say nothing at all and keep quiet. Watch how you move on social media. Because if they cannot hurt the author, then they tend to go after the things the author may love or hold great value to!

The funniest thing about negative eyes are that most of the time, people comment on a situation or event they have the slightest clue about.

It is common for the one sending the twisted news that they are concerned and along with that concern, comes a false heightened fear that something is going to happen negatively.

This fear could be from some past related events, possibly or not, but a high percentage of this fear comes from not enough information and too much bad interpretation of a post that was maybe less than a paragraph long.

Then after the misinterpretation, here comes the looks and the naysayers projecting negative thoughts in the air. Not knowing the full intent of the post, but understand the negative balance to which the post lays because of one misinterpretation.

No matter the outcome of the mess, the author of the post is tarnished for life! There is no restitution after a mistake was made, or an accusation recanted. The author of the post has to live with subpar reputation when all the author did was state an opinion about a person, place or thing!

The slightest thought of self expression could easily sway into hate speech. Then it is the prison the author is confined to. Never recalling any positive works, as this dark light is cast down as if this person was ever capable of doing anything good!

The works are often misjudged, even after the reconciliation has taken place! The scare of shame should have never been placed, when there was no proper investigation of what was said! The author was guilty before proven innocent.

Beware of the reader that cries wolf! Often this person is dealing with some unresolved trauma that may have triggered a past event and now it’s time to call all cars!

Unfortunately, the cars should be called on the one who twisted the post and made it more than what it is! As Kevin Samuels use to say, “you can’t write this $#!+ up”.

So moving forward, we as a people should mind our business! That will never happen. The negative eye will continue to do social media harm. My suggestion is to do one of the following, or maybe all to consider if the accusation is valid or invalid!

1. Consider the source. Who is making the accusation or reporting the post and why.

2. Ask the author for clarification

3. Read the post for your own interpretation!

4. If healthy atmosphere is allowed, have the author and accuser sort things out.

Mostly with consideration to the author. Is it really worth it? Should the accuser be punished for spreading misinformation? It’s all a 50/50 chance in the world we live in today!

Thoughts are better left unsaid, right? Then what’s the use of freedom of expression? What is the use of dying a thousand times, when life only gives us one shot?

Maintain your freedom of expression!
