The Art Of Imperfection

Learning To Love The Real You

By Jeevalakhshara DewiPublished about a year ago 3 min read
For the girls who are blind to see how beautiful they are

Ever heard of the quote-"Imperfection is perfect" ? Well,I'm not sure who said that but I was 13,insecure of myself,my tan skin,my almond shaped eyes (that's not even the worst thing I hated about myself),the curls of my hair and the shape of my nose,I was the epitome of insecurity.I would spend hours trying to find a way to change my features I was insecure of it.And when I was scrolling Pinterest and that quote caught my eyes.I read it and....I ignored it.

At 14 (which was the age where I was at my peak),I was thriving,my grades went up,my social circle was small,I had the best friend, every detail carried a significance I had never noticed before,I was totally grateful of everything-those smiles I would get from people, the little chances I would get to meet my friend during school time, the quality time with my family, the food I would get,the achievements I would make as an outstanding students,God,me.But when I tell you,I was grateful of myself do not assume that I appreciated how I looked (I only loved my mindset and my personality,I realized I was cool),I was still insecure of myself and that was not okay (PS : IT IS DEFINITELY NOT OK).I was still insecure of myself,my eyes,my nose,my curly hair and my lip was added to the list by that time too.

I can still remember,I wrapped up my revisions related to the factors that influences the water evaporation rate (favourite) and then I thought about my looks which frustrated me and out of the blue,I started to think about the quote.I was still unable to understand what it meant. However, day by day,the meaning of the quote unfolded, each stroke of realization hit a deeper chord within me,until it resonated with a truth I couldn't ignore : I'm beautiful the way I am.

Here's the deal-if you don't fit the beauty standards, you make your own (said by Hwasa from Mamamoo for your information). You have perfections that are not measured by conventional standards. So you're like "Oh I could only be beautiful with this type of feature'' honey, you are you, that's freaking hot, unique amd gorgeous and whatever you name it.Your level of beauty is not defined by these standards you see in TikTok or whatever, embrace who you are. Those features you think are ugly, are not actually ugly,it's only in your mind. You have a tanned skin ? Embrace it.You have wide rib cage ? Embrace it.You have a big nose ? Embrace it.

Stop trying to ft in.Stop calling yourself ugly.If you don't fit in,embrace it.You are defined by the authenticity that radiates from your core.Wanna start embracing how you look like ? Start appreacting your beauty, drown yourself in the realization of how unique and beautiful you are.Instead of criticizing yourself for your flaws, offer the same kindness that you'd give to someone who you want to look like, surround yourself with people who would appreciate you (LEAVE THOSE WHO BRING YOU DOWN,GIRL !!),replace those negatives talks about yourseld and replace it with affirmations that reinforces your worth and beauty.Stop seeking validation and start honoring the masterpiece you are 9please love yourself instead of loving the idea of other people loving you). When I started to embrace those "imperfections''( which that I later realized were perfect),I started to gain confidence and I really started to love myself even more.I had the confidence to say ''I'm pretty'' from not talking about my looks at all.

The universe has shaped you in a way that no one else could replicate.Your individuality is the testament to the wonder of creation itself-an expression of life's boundless potential.Embrace the fullness of who you are,for you are a rare and invaluable part of this world. And also it's okay to have desires to have a feature but don't let it consume you whole until you ignore the beauty within you.
