The 13 Inch Journey

The longest trip you will ever take

Thirteen Inch Journey from the Head to the Heart

It was a rainy day in the Florida swamp. The humidity was making our church hair, frizzy! We parked our cars in Dunklin's lot and entered Mickey's pole barn. We were here for Sunday School, but found spiritual revelation.

Sometimes truth comes disguised as a reformed drunk preacher in the forrest. Sometimes wisdom wears plaid shirts, wranglers and Justin boots. Sometimes answers are revealed, in stillness, not in acting.

We took our seats, 23 of us packed into the small enclosure. The pole barn, now a metaphor, air conditioning rattling in the corner. As the hour approached 10am, we were getting started. We sang some songs of praise, to God, the mood among us shifting.

"Close your eyes," my mentor said. "Try and relax your body. Each part, one at a time. First your feet, then your legs, then your seat and now your chest. Relax your shoulders and let the arms go. Relax your neck and let the tension go. Now your head, dive inside can you see the carousel of your mind?"

I could see the horses on poles that ran around, stuck inside my mind's soul. Whirling fast and music singing, up and down and bells are ringing. I ride silently on a grey horse, bridled in green with studs of gold. Wind wildly blows through my horses mane and I feel cold and can not let go.

Then my mentor takes control, helping us to guide our minds, taking captive every thought. "Speak to the carousel of your mind. Ask it to slow down, so you can jump off. As it slows, climb down off your high horse until the spinning stops. Climb down from the carousel of your mind. Find the passage to the spiral stair way that will lead you to your heart."

I see myself dismount ole grey, when the spinning stops, I find my way to the heavy door that guards the staircase to my heart. I lift the door's latch and it cries, screeching open. A dimly lit passage, copper rails, winding downward.

"See yourself descending, now. Climb on down your staircase. Hold the rail, I wish you well, take each step and no skipping. It's a 13 inch journey from your head to your heart. Most will never travel to this highly guarded gate. As you reach the bottom stair you will find another door. Once you get there--go on and enter."

I spiraled down the concrete steps, one by one, until thirteen reached. As I stepped off the the final stoop, I faced an old mahogany door with a golden knob and beyond which, light was glowing.

"Go on in." My mentor said. "This is the really good part. When you open the door to your heart you will find a throne. Most of the time, you sit here commanding, ruling, judging. But if you will, let Jesus in, he can help you pivot. The power of the Most High God has created Christ, the Logos. The consciousness of the Christ is available to any one of us. Picture Jesus on the throne that governs your heart's throne. To align with Christ, you and He are one."

Thirteen inches is so close, yet seems so far away. Many never find a way to silence the spinning mind and ride the carousel all of their life. Seeing Christ upon the throne of your inner sanctum lets you see with Jesus eyes, lenses tinted with love and with compassion.

Human hearts in harmony with the Consciousness of Christ reply with authentically aligned intention over fear's reaction. As the ego dies, the conscious Christ, from ashes will arise. When human beings unite with Christ, they begin to glow. The Christ-vibration aligns one's will with one's deeds and intuition. Choosing to beat at a high frequency circulates God's love. Portals are the human heart, from which God's love can flow.
