A love story that lasts ten years
When the phone rang, Doc was watching football on the television. He almost let it ring as was his habit. He was pleasantly surprised to hear Eline’s voice when he answered. He and Eline had met some six months earlier while he was in the Netherlands for a Jazz Festival. When she had dropped Doc off at the airport for his return flight back to San Francisco, she had advised him that she had every intention of visiting him at his home. At the time he thought it was just talk and that nothing would ever materialize, but there she was on the phone asking for a ride from the airport. It was a very typical rainy and foggy San Francisco evening as Doc made his way south on the 101 towards the airport. His dogs had created a fuss when he left his home because they had been waiting for their evening walk. He thought to himself that the dogs would have to wait for their walk on this day.

By his second birthday, however, the pictures revealed he had become a happy toddler with eyes the same dark brown shade as his father's, with all trace of the dark grey of those early photographs gone.

Monkeypox cases are falling dramatically in US
Monkeypox is a rare disease that can cause an infected person to develop lesions resembling smallpox. In the past, the virus cases was thought to be relatively harmless and rarely spread from person to person. But in 2003, doctors diagnosed their first human case of monkeypox in the United States—and then another one just two years later. Today there are only three known cases of monkeypox reported outside Africa: two from Spain and one from Germany. The new findings suggest that this number could be even lower than we originally thought!

Dead Birds and Funerals
The two little J sisters walked hand-in-hand into our backyard on a bright sunny summer morning. They were maybe six and four years old, pretty little girls with long blond hair and wide blue eyes in matching floral sundresses. They lived around the corner and across the street. I was surprised to see them.
