social media
Social Media for modern lovers in the digital age.
No Hate
So, I randomly clicked on a video on YouTube. It was a proposal video. A woman proposing to her longtime girlfriend. It was very sweet and very beautiful. Then I started to read the comments on the video and felt really disgusted by what these people said. I can't believe how close minded some people are. Those words hurt me a lot. I saw words like faggot, and dykes. One person even said, "We need more gas chambers."

Instagram Can Have You Insta-Divorced!
By now, almost all of us are plugged into social media in some form or fashion. It’s a great way to not only stay connected to distant family and friends, but it’s also an excellent way to communicate with interesting people we’ve never met. Awesome sauce! Right? Well presumably so, yes. But in a marriage, too much Facebook and not enough face time (no not the app) can be detrimental. More and more, I’m hearing rumblings of social media going awry in married life. But how is this possible? How can an app on my phone or a non-pornographic website cause so much turmoil on the home front? Well, if you’ve ever heard that too much of anything is not good, even if it’s supposed to be a good thing, then you’re beginning to get an idea of where I’m going with this.

Does Unfriending on Facebook Mean Unfriending In Real Life?
June is LGBT Pride month, even if the current resident of the White House won't recognize it. So it's fair to tell you that I am part of the community, I'll wait while you pick your jaws up off the floor. It's true, I am a gay man and I am very proud to be part of this community. That also means I can be a little sensitive about things people post on Facebook, in regards to my community.

An Open Letter to My Stalker: Thank You.
At fifteen, a boy who I vaguely knew through a friend of a friend took something of a shining to me. This is no mean feat when you attend an all girls school, are entering your teenage years and desperately want a boyfriend. Not to mention the fact that I was a little frumpy and suffered from acne. Any attention from a boy two years my senior was, initially, well received.

Can You Trust A Guy Who Ghosted Someone Else?
Ghosting is a sad reality in today's modern dating scene. It's the act of disappearing without a warning or a trace as a way to break up with someone. Most people agree it's an act of cowardice that says volumes about the person who does it.

Revisiting 'Her'
I want to take a moment to appreciate the brilliance of Her. Starring Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson as the voice of Samantha, we follow a man as he falls in love (and out of love) with a computer designed to fulfill his specific needs. The story that Jonze tells is original and profound, yet does not seem far off from the world we live in today. Everywhere I go I am speed-walking past folks with their eyes on their phones, moving at a glacial pace.
