love
All you need is Love, and Love is all you need.
One Name
It was a strange feeling to know I would not be moving for a while. Settling down in a house that was mine. Well, technically the house was the banks, but the payments belonged to me. By some miracle I had managed to pick a winning lottery ticket of $20,000.00. Once it was confirmed as legitimate, I knew exactly how I wanted to spend the money: A down payment on my first home.

What the Psychic Told Me
I had my tarot cards read by a psychic when I was twenty-five. I wanted to know when I would find my soul mate. A loaded gun of a word if ever there were one. But I fell for the idea that we have one person we are meant to spend the rest of our lives with, and I was hell bent on finding him. Unfortunately, I was terrible at love. When it came to partners, I consistently chose incorrectly and then paid for it later when I had to clean up the mess of a failed relationship. In order to avoid any more emotional disasters, I figured I’d have a psychic tell me what to look for.

One Woman Harem
Sometimes? The fluidity and speed with which my mood and/or personality changes gives me whiplash. Mercury, the ruling planet of Gemini, was invisible due to daylight and below the western horizon the late May afternoon I was born. But it was certainly there, offering its lifelong gravitational influence on my body's fluids and my brain tissue. I'm a true Gemini. And so am I.

The Bookstore That Never Was
He stared at the final page of the small black notebook he’d picked up only 17 days ago. Scribbled across the middle of the page was the word “congratulations” and in the top right-hand corner, the date: March 2nd, 2021. He was nervous. If the last 17 days were anything to go by, this could literally mean anything. There was no way to tell. The only thing he knew for sure was that in two days, it would be March 2nd and he was terrified.

Finding the Love That I Deserve
In college, I was introduced to The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which quickly became my favorite movie. In the movie, there are multiple couples both adults and teenagers and certain of the couples are in abusive relationships. Charlie, the main character, asks his teacher why people choose the wrong people to date. His teacher responds with a piece of wisdom that has stayed with me and altered my perspective.

Forever and to Eternity
1952 (Korean War) Anita closed the little black notebook as tears spilled from her eyes. She couldn't look at it any longer it was far too painful. She knew it was something she would have to keep locked away and possibly take to her grave. She took an old hat box that belonged to her mother and buried the notebook under a pile of lace doilies. He was gone forever.

Lotto Dreams
Millie lived in the poorest area of Logan, W Virginia. A rural town with a population of around 1700. Millie worked at the Little General Store. She was a plain looking woman. Dishwater color, thin blond hair. She was thin to the point of being gaunt. Never married and pushing 53, if she was a day. She lived in a four-room shack that someone in her family had built back in the day. It was drafty, worn down, and not worthy to be a dog’s house, but here is where she lived. There was a small living room, a kitchen, and two small bedrooms when it had been originally built. At that time there wasn’t even running water, electricity, or even a bathroom; but over the years one of the bedrooms was converted into a bathroom with running water and electricity added throughout the house. All 850 square feet.
