literature
Whether written centuries ago or just last year, literary couples show that love is timeless.
Stalked
Have you ever loved someone so completely? So much that every ounce of your being belonged to that person? To love so hard is to trust hard. To be in a relationship where you completely love and completely trust one another is hard to find these days. And I was one of the lucky few to find a relationship like that.

Endowed
I’m the girl that goes unnoticed, day after day. The one you silently pass in the hallway every day, her head always down, clothes faded together like the scenery on a foggy morning. The girl no one ever bothers to wave or say hi to, and never hangs out with a group of friends in the hall. I’m the same girl that sits at Jerry’s Diner every night reading a book or writing in a notebook, always alone at the table, sipping on a tea or soda. Although no one notices me, I silently sit and watch others around me. I notice their emotions, and their body language. Sometimes, I can see their emotions, and see their thoughts. Maybe I’m just crazy, but that’s just another thing you wouldn’t notice.

Something Better Than Nothing
To fall in love is a dangerous thing. A numbness consumed her as she stood in the dark doorframe of his old room, her black heels dangling from half-curled fingers. The taint of adolescence was frozen in the scarlet of his walls that she brushed her fingers against, the rich darkness of his carpet her toes curled into, the black and grey plaid of his comforter. She stood for a moment just staring at the bed that had once been his. His home, his room, his past. Everything he had spoken so much about.

Il Vigneto
She ran her fingers through his hair, separating the deep mahogany corn rows. Her fingers gently gripped the ends and her hands found a place on the sides of his head. Excitement gripped her body and she bit her lip slightly. Viola had never expected anything to escalate so quickly. But he was like heroin to her, although she had done her best to suppress the animal within her. She just kept coming back for more.

Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Chapter 4 - By the Cover)
Even rides on the bus took on new meaning, Nathan and I sitting side by side, my head resting comfortably on his shoulder. The Christmas holiday went by much too fast, with Nathan and I spending nearly every waking moment together. I practically live over at his house.

The Makeup (Chapter 3 - By the Cover)
Rose For the rest of the day, I avoided Nathan, darting from lesson to lesson. After the first incident, Nathan didn't show up outside of anymore of my classrooms, but just in case, I decided against riding the bus. Mum, as expected, was late, having been staying to discuss the terms of the promotion in more depth with Keith. I didn't mind really.

The Kiss (Chapter 2 - By the Cover)
Nathan I blinked, opening my eyes to the bright sunlight streaming through the bay window into the lounge. I sat up on the sofa, finding Rose lying next to me, still asleep despite the bright morning light. I never noticed how beautiful she was. Sleeping next to me, she looked so peaceful, her dark hair cascading loosely over her shoulders. It must have escaped during the night. I spied the green elastic she always kept it in lying on the ground, unconsciously discarded. I liked it better that way, a few wisps playing wildly over her milky, pale skin.

Prologue of By the Cover
It was my first day at primary school. The fact that it was pouring was clearly a sign that I shouldn't go, but my mother, however, did not agree. She practically dragged me down the road, her umbrella held high above her as she held mine with her other hand. Through the hailing rain and wind, she clung to my wrist tightly.

The Promotion (by the Cover Chapter 1)
Rose Outside the window, snowflakes seemed to stream down, flouncing through the air in every which way all at once, like little bits of white tissue paper. As beautiful as the fat crystals were, I felt the day's chill seep through the window panes. Getting up from the window seat, I was unsure what to do with myself on this rare day off from school. The sudden, muffled shrill of my mum's phone sounded from its place on her nightstand, bringing me out of my thoughts.

The Cherr-Delight Girl
He was the kind of guy to burn his draft card. He protested the war and wore heavy sideburns on either side of his angular face. He had dropped out of college a couple of years before to pursue work as an artist. Long story short, my dad did not like him.

The Bad Thing
Helen I’d known Tom for ages before he asked me out. We used to work together at a pub down the road from where I lived in Bolton- 'The Blundell’. He was on the bar; I was a waitress, and whenever he thought I wasn’t watching he’d be looking at me. I could practically feel his eyes burning into my back most of the time. Everyone kept telling me how much he fancied me, always talking about me, asking if I was working whenever he came in. I mean sure, it was flattering, because he was two years older than me, and I was only sixteen and at the girls’ school studying for my AS Levels. I didn’t talk to him much at first, but I found out from some of the other girls at work that he was at the high school in town, and that he was studying music and played the piano. I like a guy who is musical. And I suppose he was good looking in a way, with floppy blonde hair that kind of fell into his eyes, which were blue, but I didn’t find this out until much later because he wore black square-framed glasses, you know, the cool kind, trendy designer style specs, and his eyes weren’t that easy to see behind them.
