I Got a Do-Over
For the first 52 years of my life, I considered myself to be straight. I was married to 3 men, had sex with men, fantasized about men. As I look back through the lens of 20/20 hindsight, I see small clues everywhere that told me I was actually gay.

Being Out
Pride. There's an entire month dedicated to it; 30 days to be loud and proud of our identities. In recent years I have seen a growing correlation between pride and being out; as if the only way one can be proud about their identity is to be out.

June 1st, 2018
Dear Catherine, Today is June 1st, 2018. I am 19 years one month and 21 days old. This is a special day because it is the first day of Pride Month. Now you might be wondering what Pride Month is. I will tell you why this month is so special. Pride Month is a month to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. That is, the community of gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, queer, transgender, non-binary genders, demi-sexual, aromantic, pan-romantic, and more. There’s a lot more to it than that, but you probably don’t even understand all those words yet. I'm also not pretending to know everything about this because I am still learning about it myself, but I will learn more. The reason I'm telling you about Pride Month is because this is the first year it came around where I was sure I wasn’t straight which is saying, I might be gay or bisexual. This is perfectly okay, of course. At this point, I'm still figuring things out, but I know that I belong to this community.

Dear Catherine, Today is June 29, 2018. It's been a little bit since I wrote one of these letters. I honestly kind of forgot about them. But I wanted to get back into writing these because they help me think through things a little bit better. I still haven’t come out of the closet, but I think I'm getting close. It's just really hard because I'm not even sure what I am. Am I gay or am I bisexual? I'm so confused. I've never had a relationship before and this whole thing is so new and kind of scary to me. Sometimes I see guys and I feel drawn to them, but not attracted. I don’t know if that’s because I feel drawn to human connection and I just want friends. But I feel attracted in more than just friendly ways to girls.

Pick One
It seems in recent months, more and more people of this generation are coming out of the closet with gusto and confidence in terms of their sexuality, gender, etc. And that's fantastic! Knowing that members of the LGBTQA+ and their allies can find community almost everywhere is a great relief.

Why I Won't Be Telling My Parents I'm Bisexual Until I Date a Girl
I had happily settled into university life and, as it was only first year, was out partying 2 or 3 times a week. My flatmate had met a girl on her course, we’ll call her K, and had been on a night out with her. K had ended up coming back to our flat and staying the night to save her from walking back across campus to her own hall. So, when we had our hungover post night out debrief in the morning, K was still there laughing and complaining along with the rest of us. My friend was completely oblivious to the fact she’d just shared her bed with a lesbian overnight, had no problem with it, but was slightly surprised when the rest of us told her afterwards.

My Best Friend Found Out I Am Pansexual
This time last year, my best friend L was moving to Australia. She was going over there for one year, broadening her career as a teacher whilst getting some travelling in at the same time.
