Why Pride Month Is Important and Needed
Pride Month is a time for LGBT people to celebrate who they are, but there are those who are opposed to any rights for people like myself. Yes, marriage equality has been legal for almost four years, but queer people still face discrimination and are being denied services, because of religious convictions. There are many states that have so called "religious freedom" bills and county clerks who refuse to issue marriage licenses to LGBT people. Religious freedom is just another term for license to discriminate. People do have a right to believe in whatever they want, but when your personal religious beliefs hurt other people, there are consequences, and in most cases, these are deadly. This year is the 50th anniversary of the uprising of the Stonewall Inn, which was a pivotal movement for gay rights. Since then, there has been groundbreaking moments that happened for LGBT people everywhere, and here are some of them:

In the month of June we celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. It's National Pride month, yay! In this month we celebrate the proud people who rioted for their freedom to be themselves, allowing us that freedom as well. Whether we know ourselves or not.

9 Pride Months Have Passed. I Can Say that 'It Gets Better!'
I was looking up Pride events when I suddenly stopped and a thought struck me: It’s been 9 years this month since I started coming out to my closest friends and family. I leaned back, hands behind my head, and stared at the ceiling as my life for the past 9 years flashed before my eyes.

Pride month comes around every June as a way to foster community and celebrate sexual diversity. It’s all about recognizing the impact that LGBTQIA+ individuals have had on their communities, and the world at large; so it can encourage appreciation of the ways in which these people experience the world around them. Pride events help those who are still figuring out their sexualities to step into their identities, and find joy and beauty in them.

Cookies and Milk
Let’s say that we have a box of cookies, and a glass of milk. These two things are completely different. Different sizes and different shapes. They’re total opposites. But, the thing is, they complete each other. On one side, we have the chocolate chip cookie, and on the other we have the fresh and cold glass of milk. Put together, they fit perfectly. It’s a couple made in heaven, they’re in harmony. Right now, the story might seem boring. What’s up with milk and cookies? Sometimes you might put two cookies together without the milk, or two glasses of milk without the cookies, and it would be fine, right?
