humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
Twin Generosity
One late afternoon when I was rushing to get back home, I was so eager to ride the train and see my kids who were left by themselves in the house. When I alighted the train, I saw a young man, carefully holding the arm of his old and frail grandfather. They were trying to use the stairs but I told them to use the elevator so that going down would be easier.

Bells and Boughs
My town has a Santa Clause. Not literally, obviously. Some might call him an angel or something. I like to think of him as Santa, though, and so does my town. After all, he's just a man, but he does a massive amount of good, and that's the original story of Santa. Someone who gave to those in need.

Right Place at the Right Time
All my life, I believed in helping others. Be it spending time with an elderly neighbor, or helping my mom with things around the house. I had aspirations of being a teacher from a young age. The thought of molding young minds and filling them with information drew me.

Cultivated Compassion
I was introduced to mental illness at a very young age long before a strange visit many years later. I do not know whether it was the sexual victimization or the poverty in a vicious violent community, but my childhood was marred with trauma. This trauma gave me a sadness inside the depths of my soul that took many decades to heal. This sadness manifested later into depression then into manic depression with suicidal tendencies. This was a scary thing for my family in particular, and many gave up on me, but my mother refused and used a mix of prayer and tough love to keep me from going over the deep.

A helping hand....
The earliest days of the pandemic in Australia were marked by a mixture of confusion, disbelief and for many, a degree of ambivalence and even apathy. Reports from overseas punctuated the news with increasing intensity and heightened concern as the weeks rolled by, but these were far from dominating news cycles here. As an arts worker the ripples of effect had become visible in the sphere of my work by late 2019 but these remained easy to shrug away or ignore; a few cancellations of visiting Asian based public speakers or artists who had planned to perform at this festival or another; seemingly mere inconveniences to be temporarily worked around rather than a precursor to something more imposing.

Leaving Racism in 2020!!
I was born in 1997. Which makes me only 23! When I was about 4 or 5 I lived in a small town called Loreauville (sounds like ->Lor-Veel) Louisiana. I had friends of all colors at school. Mostly whites because the town was filled with mostly white people.
