humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
We Are Screwed - Or Are We?
Humans first appeared on the earth scene around 7 million years ago, give or take. This is when early humans along with the chimpanzee, diverged from a common ancestor. In these past million of years, there have been approximately 26 different humanoid groups living and dying off at various times. We, homo sapiens, are the survivors. Our nearest cousins, the chimps are still here but only at our leaving.

The Benefits of Gratitude
Being Grateful means, by Oxford's definition, a readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness; having or showing the desire or reason to thank someone for giving pleasure or comfort. Being Grateful means you know you are indebted to someone for some action undertaken by them that benefited you in some manner and consciously acknowledging that appreciation. Gratitude can take unnumbered shapes and forms, from tickets to the hottest show in town to a brand new Porsche (theoretically speaking, of course), but often gratitude comes in gentler doses; a simple inclination of the head, a tearful, wordless hug, a handshake and poignant look into another's eyes. Yet however it comes, it is one of the most important things we can ever do.

My Journey as an Author – Kanika Saxena
Since I was a kid, loved reading. I grew up on mystery and school novels by Enid Blyton. I still remember when I received my first book as a birthday gift, it was by the author Enid Blyton – Mr. Pink Whistle. I simply loved the book. I kept reading it over and over until I got my next one!

Neocolonialism and the Demonization of China
Reading the newspaper is as integral a part of my morning routine as brushing my teeth or sipping bournvita. And it has been so for a very long time. My yearning for geopolitics makes me skim through the regional and national news pieces and skip to the International News leaf, cuz that's where all the tea is :) This routine started at a time when I wouldn't question a news article as much as I would try to assimilate it and take it for what it is. I trusted my news source to provide me with a fair, unbiased reporting/perspective on all the affairs. Much later, when I started questioning things that were almost like a given, among other things, I realized how the News continues to remain a colonial instrument even in modern days.

See you on the other side
“Pecorino,” he says. The word is sharp and zestful, in a layered way I can’t quite decipher. I look to his features to find the explanation behind this cheese-related intensity, and I imagine that they are flashing with dissonant realities: pride, lustiness, exhaustion, and the kind of solace one can only find in the mundane. He is an expert in base pleasure and he cooks it en masse, ad infinitum. I don’t imagine it is an emotionally simple task. Behind him, heat is steaming from the jumbo-size pots and the Uber Ipad is dinging, dinging, dinging. The noise has trained us all, Pavlov-style, to disassociate back to periods of frantic business, sweat, and grime, but we aren’t returned to that state just yet. Now, like soldiers, we are prepping at the precipice of a new battle.

I Have Spent Lockdown Delivering Packages of Joy
As the third wave of Covid sweeps Australia, my city falls into lockdown for the first time in over a year. I think it came as a bit of a shock to my community. The delta variant had been running rampant in the regions surrounding us for months and we had remained untouched for so long. We built up a sense of invincibility that was suddenly shattered as they announced the first case within our borders.

A Day in the Life
If you ask me who I am, and what I do for work, there are many ways that I could answer you. What I tell you will probably depend on where I am and the context of our conversation. I could tell you everything but that would be quite time consuming, and likely we should be spending some time talking about you too.
