humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
Gender Stereotypes are Outdated
I'm glad that our society is becoming more aware and understanding towards different genders, and that more people are allowed to be themselves. When I think back to the fact that for centuries gender and sex were viewed as the same thing, and that everyone had to fit into what a boy or girl should be, it's hard to fathom.

Refracted
First of all, please look after yourselves. I endeavour to be honest and truthful, and will try not to be overly bleak or graphic, but I want you to be mindful of your own mental health throughout. If anything you read does bring up bad stuff, please, please, please seek out help. Speak with a trusted friend or family member, or reach out to one of the many mental health crisis and call back services. I will endeavour to include a list of just a handful of these at the end of each piece. Remember, you are not alone, you are deserving and capable of love and the world could not stand to lose your unique spark!

Writing about the Day
Today started pretty well woke up and spent some time just talking about different things. When you finally realize there are some needs to make some changes in life and what she wants to do for the rest of her life and working in the restaurant field is something that she does not want to do anymore. Well, things are quiet around here, and everyone is doing things they want to do she, assumes because; no one is here with her in the living room. She watched a video of her grandson starting to try and learn how to crawl. It is nice to watch them grow and see how they shape up in the world. When you become a grandparent, it is something quite; different than anything else. Our job as parents is to make sure that we raise our children and teach them how to defend themselves. You will always come across people and find out they are staying at the house living with their parents for the rest of their life. We are not teaching them anything but how to get away with living in their parent's house and not making a life for themselves. It is time to push them out of the house for their good and learn how the world works. Well, anyway, things are looking pretty around the house, and flowers are blooming all around. Our garden did not do that well this year because, as usual, we did not get started in time enough, and then it gets; too hot for the plants.

MENTAL IMPLOSION AVERTED!
THE MORE YOU KNOW, THE LESS YOU HAVE TO SAY. That's been my mantra for the bigger part of my life BUT at 78 years old, virtual volumes of facts, figures, fiction, fantasies, folders and "Fhotos" rattle around between my cerebrum, cerebellum and medulla. Not certain whether said collection of information, knowledge and general falderal will cause a huge brain blast or simply ooze out, thus forming a puddle of generational acumen unbeknownst to the masses, I find it's time to relieve the pressure and reduce these nearly eight decades to a virtual encyclopedia of print. Runnin' out of shoppin' days, I hate to leave a multitude of everything from expertise to horse feathers left unsaid. Herein lies the problem. A veritable plethora of subjects loom as the launch ramp for my ship into the sea of gobbledygook.

Celebrate International Day of the Girl October 11th with These 4 Community-Focused Ideas
Girls are amazing. We know it, you know it, and certainly the women in your life know it too. And while we raise the young women in our lives to believe they can do, be, and accomplish anything they put their minds to, it never hurts to have a day dedicated to reminding them of just that.

Homeless in a Pandemic
Zombie apocalypse??? We no longer must wait for that event to begin. We merely have to open our eyes and look around. The zombie apocalypse is happening now, but no one see it except us, the meth-heads, tweakers, night people, whatever you want to call us the zombies we are.

The Grace of Grieving
When my dear friend (and editor) Lesley asked me to contribute an article on grief, I balked, Hard. Although I am no stranger to grief, I do not feel in any way equipped to advise or direct others around this intensely personal process. In fact, repeating any of the advice I have received on grieving also sounded…less than desirable. So I decided to go on a cultural journey into the many ancient traditions and cultures of death and grieving around the world, as I am Irish, so I will start there.

Strangers at the Elevator
I got lucky and as I walked into the elevator hall at work coming back from lunch, one opened up that was going down. That's a rare thing to happen and normally I give up waiting and go down the stairs. I witness a nurse hurriedly telling a gnetlman how to get where he was trying to go and he walks away to go and I look over and see him looking around and put his hands on his hips and hung his head looking defeated. I had a decision to make here, either hop on the elevator or go to help this stranger. I looked back at the elevator as the doors just began to close. I looked back at him, and back at the doors where I could have shoved my hand in to reopen the doors. Instead I sighed a little to myself and walked towards the gentleman who was clearly feeling lost and looked slightly despaired. The hospital is comprised of 4 buildings or "hospitals" and it can be a pain navigating them even for employees.

The Gift of the Socks
My real education in life began the year after I graduated high school when I met Charlie. The frigid air, a record cold at seventeen degrees, seeped through the seals of the front display glass, and I turned up the floor heater in the sporting goods store I managed. The old retail building, built eighty years earlier, didn't have much insulation and no central heating and air.
