humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
Optimism that has experienced pessimism is the real optimism
One day I asked my daughter, "Do you think it's okay to laugh and cry? Or cry and laugh?" She thought for a moment and replied, "Crying and laughing, because this is the last laugh." Children also know how to look at results. I think life may live is a feeling, seven emotions and six desires, in addition to love and joy, the other five emotions are uncomfortable. So happiness becomes a spiritual pursuit.

Why Eastern Spirituality is Often a Struggle for Westerners
The following was excerpted from a class conversation on the topic of personal and spiritual growth. Q: In reading Master of Self-Realization by Shri Sadguru Siddharameshwar Maharaj, I find that his answer to everything is that we are experiencing an illusion. We need to let go and just stop caring about whatever it is. That’s all there is to it. But for me, it’s not helpful to be told to just let go. What am I missing?

Forgetting: An act of loss or gain?
The way in which I have been raised has emphasized the importance of memory, both individual and collective. Being born and raised in Colombia, taught me that those who forget their history are condemned to repeat it. Having my amazing grandmother diagnosed with Alzheimer’s over half a decade ago has been a constant reminder of the value of being able to treasure the present for times to come. This being said, remembrance has been put on some sort of pedestal. Holding on to memories or the past has been a central focus of, both, my country, and my family. Hence, forgetting, its opposite, has been imprinted in my brain as an act of loss. Letting go of thoughts or events has never been viewed in a positive light. I have been taught that letting things slip away is a huge mistake.
