friendship
C.S Lewis got it right: friendship is born when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one!"
PSYCHO FRIEND
I left high school in 1999, which was the year Bill Clinton was impeached, and the same year as the Columbine Highschool massacre that claimed the lives of 12 students and 2 teachers. That was also the same year I met the craziest friend I have ever met. I will spare her, by providing all of you with her name, but if she ever reads this. She will know it is her, and that for me is awesome. So, I will call her Laura.

Barn
Ours was a quiet, small town community in Iowa. In the summer times and half of a fall, we attracted tourists and excitement and adventure. From the later half of a fall through the spring, we attracted nothing. See, that was just fine for the grownups in our community. We kids liked adventure.

Living in Daddy's Closet Part Two
Chapter 4 The School Year The University of Pacific was one of the most beautiful places in Stockton, especially during the autumn. It had an Ivy League look to it. The reds, yellows, and browns of the leaves made the campus looked like a modern mosaic, and the autumn of 1953 was stunning. Early morning September 8th, Lillian and Harlan arrived at the archway entrance of UOP. Harlan sported his new brown pinch-back suit, with a very pale blue shirt and a wine color tie. His shoes were brown Florsheim wingtips. He looked quite stylish. The taxi driver took out Harlan’s luggage and said it on the sidewalk.

The Long & Winding Road: My Cozy, Little Corner of the World. Second Place in Cozy Corner Challenge.
If there's one thing I crave more than anything else, it's my solitude. When the country first instated the initial few days & weeks of stay-at-home orders as part of Covid-19 safety protocols, I thought well how much different is that than what you’re used to? You can do this.

Unsupportive Friends
Over the past few months, I'd been considering having a Lipo 360 + BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) surgery done. Not because I'm unhappy with my body but because it's something I want to do for myself. Recently, I lost quite a bit of weight and have made it down to size 8 but have loose skin and some fat I'd like to "move around", if you will, so it looks more appealing to me.

Check-ups.
A lot of us, (yes, me especially), love the little things in life. Good morning texts, even if it's just from a friend. Check-up texts. Random meme sending on Instagram or Facebook. It just makes us feel like someone is thinking of us. Even if it is for a split second, somebody saw something and you were the one that popped into their head and they wanted to share it with you.

I Watched My Friend Total Their Car In Front Of Me
It happened on the night of Prom, during my junior year of high school. In the beginning, everything seemed magical. It was the perfect night with the most beautiful people all around. My friends and I spent precious time getting our hair and makeup done, taking thousands of pictures afterward.

Friendship
This week I took the face right off of one of my closest friends. I'm not saying that she didn't need a bit of perspective but I could definitely have handled it better. We sorted it out but not before I lost my shit and it got me thinking about friendship in general.

Surviving the Seventies
Surviving the seventies as a kid may not be as hard as you think. Yes, it’s true we didn’t have cell phones or computers, but we had this thing called friends. No, we actually knew who they were and spent time in person with them. Traveled to their houses and played outside. Phones were attached to the wall in the house and usually everyone wanted to use it at the same time. Yeah, one family, one line for the entire family. I came from a large family, five brothers and a sister along with mom and dad. The phone usually wasn’t the best way to communicate with your friends privately because someone was always nearby hearing your conversation.
