The outside world was unknown to her, but she could see a glimpse of it through the window in his room. She had lived her entire life within the walls of the compound, a seemingly endless expanse of concrete and steel that housed the last remnants of humanity. The window was her only connection to the outside world, and she spent hours each day staring through it, trying to make sense of the strange and unfamiliar sights and sounds that filtered through the thick glass.
