I’ll never forget the day it came to me. I had been texting my best friend (probably about something completely irrelevant) it was around the holidays—I was 30. I remember all of this because for some reason there was a Christmas tree in the background; which on its own isn’t very assuring, because at this point in my life anything that has happened is in the past and therefore filed in my “memory blob.” Which in and of itself is worrisome, and not very accurate as age has changed me into a shell of a woman. Regardless, this day, for the most part, sticks out in my head.

Things just aren’t the same for wannabe gangsters. Chris “Pimp C” Brown (or is it Simp C?) has made headlines again. This time it is not for any domestic violence case. No, this time around, the “Deuces” singer and dancer had some choice words for his old flame Karrueche Tran and her new beau, NFL player Victor Cruz. In an Instagram missive, Brown stated that Miss Tran ought to “upgrade” from her present relationship. Upon the deletion of such rhetoric, Brown then queried his IG followers whether it was a suck[er] move to think about your ex?”

You come up in the strangest places. Driving reminds her most of you. Whenever she is driving home at night, or when she looks up at the sky, there’s always a single star. She smiles, puts her head down, closes her eyes, and knows deep in her heart that you’re still with her. You kept your promise. It’s a simple solace, but it’s one that she can always rely on. She thinks of you when she writes. She feels you running through her fingertips, igniting a fire in her hands. She thinks of you right before she closes her eyes every night. She thinks of you always. There is no escape, and sometimes, she doesn’t want one. Because sometimes, a life filled with painful memories of all that you gave her is better than never knowing you at all.

I'll See Your Relationship Goals...
I never really cared for the lives of celebrities and reality TV. I always found it rather odd at how people gravitate towards them for entertainment. Especially when it came to their dating lives when there’s so much else going on in the world. Like the Cleveland Lebron's swapping their roster out with a new one before the trade deadline and the tensions between the US and...well everyone. I spend most of my time on social media, just like 91 percent of Earth’s population, and I see some of the most below-the-bar acts of love that are deemed #RelationshipGoals. Despite all of this and my sentiments, there is an exception to every complaint. I drop everything to read any tweet or like any pic that showcases the love of these couples. Other than my parents, THESE are the relationship goals I aspire to have someday with a woman who’s stupid...I mean willing to spend her life with me.
