Be the ballerina.
I became a ballerina when I was 29 years old. So, let’s just get that whole, “you’re never too old to try new things” inspirational speech out of the way right now. Because honestly, it’s more or less true. It is never too late to try new things, to learn new things, to reinvent yourself- none of it. The only reason people don’t try new things is fear. And fuck fear. It’s stupid. Fear holds us back from everything magical that our lives could be. It doesn’t even have to be anything monumental to shift your entire life, or at least outlook. Maybe you just try a new food, lets say some Greek dish, and you love it so much that you end up flying to Greece to try that same food in a restaurant that serves it authentically and with local ingredients, and while you’re there you buy a pair of pants and when you come home, you are wearing them to the grocery store and someone stops you to tell you how gorgeous you are and next thing you know you are cast in a movie and now you are a star. All because you ate a dolma, I don’t know.

One Bar For Me
I awaken likening a cold slab of butter left to refrigerate too long as I pull myself from the flashing of a wild dreamscape and fasten my newfound feet to the Earth. Welcome back. The echoes whisper and then raise their ugly voices out into the neighbourhood. Instead of melting softly in a pot with sips of my morning coffee, tenderizing to the touch of warmth surrounding my exterior, I remain cold and hard and tense in my position on the shelf beside fresh and unused resources. A beer is required. I ride to the garden cafe - not walk, and sit in the restaurant - not the cafe. The lady knows my order too well and produces precisely one, Saigon beer “cam on chi”. I blast fast guitar paired with wicked lyrics to match my enraged and unstable mind. I take out a fine liner pen which is mostly the only one I draw with anymore. The sketchy pictures are a simple way to portray the facts of my inner turmoil. The faces are all both jagged and smooth with patchy and dark coloured edges, all screaming to be heard as they leap from the page to the person. I notice the awareness of the faces around me, they surround me with an awareness that a screaming soul is present and determine that it’s in need of soothing. They gently nod their heads to the sound of music outside the cafe, and ensure it’ll all be okay.

Vocal Visionaries #200
On cold days like today. You make your favorite cup of coffee or hot cocoa. Sit next to a fire or the windows and watch the snow fall. You even watch the leaves fall if the weather is like that. You reminisce about the experience you‘be had and what happens next. You find something so great as this platform where you can experience your thoughts and exercise your creativity. To much wonderment of how far this collection will go. To grow as big and for as long as it has you can’t help but be grateful. Though, the work doesn’t end. Much to still learn and express.
