We all are living our lives, full of expectations. Any action we perform is bound to have a component of expectation in it. Even if you help a person, your mind will start expecting a return gesture in the future from the same person. And if by chance you are unable to receive the same gesture in return, you tend to develop hatred for the person.

But in the first place, why on earth shall we expect anything in return. Is it not in our nature as humans to help all, serve all and love all, and hurt none. Can't our actions be selfless in nature?

Consider any act of yours and the people around you. With every breath we take, we are expecting something or other from the people around us.

We humans considered to be the finest creation of the almighty, lack even the most basic of Human values.

Remember always that if you are going to be successful, the important thing is not to expect anything from anyone that you are not willing to do for yourself.

If you expect nothing from somebody, you are never disappointed.

Let go

Here are a few things that you must let go of if you are going to succeed in life.

  • Don't expect life to be fair always when you can't be true to yourself
  • Don't expect others to acknowledge you when you berate(scold or criticize (someone) angrily) yourself
  • Don't expect others to respect you when you don't respect yourself
  • Don't expect people to agree every time you speak
  • Don't expect others to fix things when you can't find solutions for yourself
  • Don't expect others to make you a priority when you haven't made yourself important
  • Don't expect to change things around you when you can't change yourself.
  • Don't expect others to forgive you when you don't forgive yourself
  • Don't expect others to do the things you haven't made the effort to do for yourself.

Imagine a life without expectations

It’s challenging to live a life without expectations. We are so used to having expectations for everything. And we feel bad and guilty when we don’t meet other people’s expectations and we feel frustrated and get angry when others don't meet our expectations.

If you can’t live a life without expectations, start by being aware of them, and lower your expectations. You’ll find yourself living a more happy and fulfilling life.

Consider your life to be like a journey with many ups and downs. Everything that happens on that journey can teach us something if we let it. When you start finding lessons even in the bad things that happen to you, you start to realize that all the incidents in life aren’t happening to you – it’s happening for you.

When you stop expecting, you stop worrying about the end results and you stop giving extra time to your brain to even think about it. You end up saving a lot of time and on top of that a life without expectations adds a lot of happiness and satisfaction in life.

Give it a try.

Let us truly become Humans

Most of us get disappointed when our expectations are not met and this is when we start experiencing various problems. From my personal experience, I feel that expectations are the root cause of all our problems i.e.

Humans + Expectations => Source of all the problems

Even you must be having some of your personal views on expectations, and if you wish you can share them with me.

So, let us truly become humans and for once remove the dark clouds of expectations hovering over our heads and then live our lives. I bet, we will enjoy every moment.

Expect more from yourself than from others. Because expectations from others hurt a lot, while expectations from yourself inspire a lot. That's life.
