For some reason many Black American celebrities have just realized that the African continent exists, most are using Africa to revive their dead or dying careers and it shows. Sadly in Ghana many Ghanaians applaud this attention instead of questioning why so many old has-been rappers and actors are chosing to now come to Ghana or other African countries.
Old, washed up American rappers now want to flood into Africa to make sure all eyes are on them, as if Africa was just discovered.
Well Steve Harvey has wants to invest in Botswana's film industry, however The Botswana Film Association (BOFIA) and the Botswana Screen Society (BSS) want his project called Ignite put to an end.
Stop Steve Harvey’s Ignite Project- BW Film Industry
Botswana Ignite initiative, a project founded by former president Mokgweetsi Masisi and American entertainer Steve Harvey aimed at cultivating skilled professionals to produce high-quality local content and attract international productions.
According to the two organizations, the initiative has received millions in government funding in a three year contract.
However, critics say the project has sidelined Batswana professionals and failed to deliver meaningful benefits to the local film community.
Poorly executed
Former president Masisi, whose government spearheaded the deal, lost power in recent elections. The local filmmakers are now calling on the new government to scrap the initiative, describing it as poorly executed and unfair to the local creative industry.
Botswana Ignite’s first major project, Family Feud Botswana Edition, has garnered significant attention. In early October, Steve Harvey told a press briefing at Mass Media Complex in Gaborone that 12 of the planned 26 episodes had been filmed and were set to air later this year.
“We’re making significant progress and I believe we’ll finish in a matter of weeks,” he said before praising the intelligence and professionalism of Batswana and the government.
Lack of suitable studios
“I’ve never worked with such educated people in Africa. Everyone I’ve worked with here is either a doctor, a nurse, a teacher, or an accountant. This shows your government is doing well, especially with free education.”
However, Harvey admitted that the show was being filmed in South Africa because of Botswana’s lack of suitable studio facilities. “The Mass Media Complex has impressive facilities but the space isn’t large enough for a show like Family Feud,” he said.
I've written about Steve Harvey and his push for Africa, for some reason he thinks that African Americans should decide to become immigrants in Africa because he a millionaire, several cheater with his head up his ass thinks its best. Even though in a video widely shared says that Ghana police are so corrupted that you have to pay them $100 USD to drive off alive.
Oddly enough Steve Harvey's voice wasn't nor hasn't been very loud when it comes to the deaths of African Americans. He has now pushed for African Americans to become immigrants in countries like Ghana. Ghana which is so corrupt even the UK High Commissioner spoke out about how casually acceptable corruption has become in Ghana.
Not only that in several videos and news platforms even Ghanaians are calling Ghanaians horrible humans.
Steve Harvey has now been to Rwanda several times and it seems that he has been to many very high profile events but hasn't decided a scam that he wants to use the country for to make himself more money. So for now he isn't running his country bunkin mouth about how beautiful and peaceful Rwanda is, which it really is.
I find it so comical that he isn't pushing for more countries like Rwanda, Seychelles, Botswana, Namibia or Sierra Leone. However once he finds a way to make money off these African countries he will then start pushing for tourism to these countries.
Lacey's House is an U.S. based nonprofit that deals with women's rights. I have worked in other countries like Kenya and Ghana. I wish to move into Burkina Faso where displaced women and children need the most assistance.
