Sisi Yemmie Opens Up About Traumatic Birth Experience
"It was so traumatic"

Popular Nigerian content creator and food blogger, Sisi Yemmie, is known for her relatable storytelling and engaging social media presence. Over the years, she has built a strong community by sharing insights into motherhood, marriage, and Nigerian lifestyle. Recently, she opened up about her first pregnancy experience, revealing the unexpected challenges she faced during labor and delivery.
Speaking about her journey to motherhood, Sisi Yemmie shared saying:
SISI YEMMIE: I've never, never had labor in my life. Because during my first pregnancy, I think I was pregnant for, like, is it forty-two weeks? Like, over. You're supposed to have given birth two weeks ago. What's happening? I was saying that I've watched so many pregnancy videos. I've read so many books. I'm supposed to be feeling somehow by now. I'm not seeing any show. I'm not feeling somehow. No mucus, no blood, no nothing. I'm like, why is my own different?
Everybody says this is how they feel at thirty-eight weeks. I joined like a mommy group so a lot of people are like, ‘At thirty-eight, I have given birth o!’ I'm like, heeey! My own e don pass. Why?
So every day you go to the hospital and one day I came and they were like, no need to bother going home. Let this child come today. Like, what are we waiting for? So they induced me for like two days. Nothing was happening, but I was weak. The induction process was painful. They were just putting their hand and putting their hand. I'm like, I'm tired. I can't do this anymore.
And then they put scissors inside and burst the water. When the water came out, it was dirty because the baby had already pooed. So now it was now an emergency C-section. I was like, what is C-section? I was so confused.
And by then, I was already physically weak. I could not even talk. Even if they say push now, I cannot stand up from my chair. So it was an emergency C-section and that was my first experience. It was so traumatic. I was like, I'm not doing this again. But here we are. We did it four times.
Sisi Yemmie’s experience is a powerful reminder of the unpredictability of childbirth. Despite the trauma of her first delivery, she went on to have three more children, showing incredible strength and resilience. Her openness about her struggles resonates with many mothers who have faced similar situations, proving that every childbirth journey is unique.
