Ashley was 14 when her grandmother Gladys 98 years old passed peacefully in her sleep. For many years Ashley felt drawn to Gladys and her mysterious abilities she seemed to poses. Ashley just could not figure out why she hadn't ever witnessed her grandmother ever get upset about anything. Glady had this energy of grace and understanding that never changed even in the times of crisis and chaos.

In this small but hectic city right outside of Chicago Ashley witnessed the hustle and bustle of being in the epitome of the working class. All the people going here & there, talking about this & that, fixing what was broken, calling them, and they were always driving to and fro, and just about every other matter pertaining to city life where everyone never even slowed down. She at times felt the stress of others and living in the busy city where everyone was always trying to make sure they accomplished what they set out to do daily.

For several months now Ashley would find alone time in her parents attic. it was away from any people or distractions of the world. this is where Gladys had said she would find the answer to all her questions she ever had in life1 grandma said right before she passed away, "Ashley my sweet angel you can now have all my things in your parents attic . Please make sure you enjoy them and keep them safe," those were the last words her grandmother said before going to sleep that night.

Now, Ashley sat in the large cluttered attic with many boxes and shelves of many books of different subjects. She was just looking around at how unorganized it seemed to be. That's when she decide to start at the middle of the mess and slowly go through all her grandmothers treasures as she organized and cleaned it. one by One she cleared the area until it was organized enough to move around.

Ashley made it look like a beautiful and relaxing space for her to find peace and relax when she needed to. Everyday for 2 months she sat there in the attic learning about the may subjects that once interested her grandmother. many times she would even fall asleep an in a good book. this would allow Ashley to have really vivid dreams that felt so real.

When summer break had arrived Ashley found herself spending long hours playing and curios about many items she still hadn't seen of her grandmothers. there were several boxes and a few bags and purses that Ashley still had not been able to look through. When she found anything of interest her mind would wander into how it worked or was used or what it was. Many items she found were very fascinating

One day as Ashley opened a small blue bag there seemed to be hidden pocket inside the side pocket. she reached into the side pocket and through the hidden slit that was cut into the pocket. she felt something that felt like it was some type of paper or book. Ashley pulled the object out to see that it was a little black book which had a lock on it.

With curiosity and excitement she began her frantic search through the many different pockets. Heart racing in hope that she would find the key to discover what was so important inside this Little black book that had to be locked. Also, her mind began to fill with thoughts of all the possible reasons for keeping this book hidden away like it was. Although she never would have guessed that when this lock was opened the biggest change of her whole life would was going to take place..

Inside that bag that held many items she discovered a hidden pocket that was holding several keys on a large ring. Ashley began to feel a if she was about to finally understand the secret that her grandmother held for all those years. As she sat there Ashley began to try each key in the lock of the little black book. After several attempts there were only 2 more keys to try before she would never know the secret. the next key that she slipped into the look turned and she was ecstatic with the lock opening.

Ashley removed the oversized lock from the latch of the book that now lay on the small table in front of her. As she lifted the latch she realized that this book was a bit weathered from time so she should handle it with care. When the book was opened to the first page there was handwriting she recognized as her grandmothers. This was impossible thought Ashley when she noticed that the writing was addressed to Ashley. Ashley began to read and was crying with tears of joy by the time she had finished. Her grandmother Gladys wrote this as follows:

Ashley turned the pages and looked briefly over all the dates and instructions. Then turned the pages until she got to the envelope. She quickly grabbed it and opened it to look with shock as she screamed. Ashley was making a promise right now that she would guard this little black book and follow all the secret directions that her grandmother trusted her with. Right now as she held a check that was written out to Ashley was for $3,000,000.00. She would never have to worry for the rest of her life about money. Now she only had this little black book and the instructions to put all her focus and also protect. That was when she began figure out what her plan would be to guarantee the safety of the book as well as how to do as the directions instructed her to do. But for now she had to let her mother know about the money without letting her see the book.

This was a long and very emotionally draining day for her as she suddenly felt very tired. Ashley She locked the black book and went quietly down the stirs and slipped into her room. Sliding the book under her pillow Ashley lay her head on the pillow as she drifted to sleep. As she dreamt of all the things she did.
