According to an analysis by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Vladimir O. Potanin, president and largest shareholder of metal giant Nornickel, with over $24.5 billion in wealth, is Russia's wealthiest person. NILSY is the world's largest producer of palladium and premium nickel and an important producer of platinum and copper.
Norilsknickel accounts for about 40% of the world's palladium production and about 10% of platinum and refined nickel. It also produces 3% of the world's cobalt supply. Vladimir Potanin is followed by Leonid Mikhelson, who has an estimated net worth of $21.4 billion, followed by Alexei Mordashov (third place, $21.3 billion). Andrey Melnichenko (No . 4, $19.7 billion).
Alisher Usmanov is Russia's fifth wealthiest person with $17.9 billion. Victor Wexelberg was ranked sixth with his personal wealth of $16 billion, followed by Roman Abramovich with $13.7 billion. Mikhail Prokhorov is ranked 8th with a net worth of $13.4 billion. Suleyman Kerimov ($11.2 billion) was ranked 9th on Russia's list of the wealthiest 10 people, followed by Gennady Timchenko (10th, $11 billion).
