REGRET

Journals of Being Part 1

Have you ever woken up at 3 AM and suddenly remembered that one time in class eight years ago when you called your teacher “mom”?

Yeah. Welcome to the human experience.

But let’s be honest, that's not the kind of regret we’re here to talk about.

We’re here to talk about the real, sticky, can’t-look-yourself-in-the-mirror kind.

The “I knew better, but I didn’t do better” kind.

The “I ghosted my dream for comfort” kind.

There are also those who choose to remain silent when they should have screamed.

Let’s be real: Regret isn’t dramatic. It’s quiet.

It doesn’t show up with loud fireworks or big breakdowns.

It creeps in.

When you’re washing dishes.

When you’re pretending to laugh with friends.

When you scroll past someone who did the thing you were supposed to do.

It whispers, “That could’ve been you.”

And you hate it.

But you listen.

Because deep down…

It’s right.

The Truth About Regret (a.k.a. the Slap You Didn’t Know You Needed)

Let’s hit some truths:

1. Regret is usually clarity that comes too late.

You didn’t know it would matter then.

You were young. Or scared. Or tired. Or numb.

You thought you’d have time. Spoiler: Time is a scam. You blink and it’s next year.

People say, “Everything happens for a reason.”

Bro, sometimes the reason is you didn’t do what you should have done.

And that’s okay. But let’s not pretend it’s the universe’s fault.

2. Regret isn’t the enemy. Paralysis is.

You messed up? Cool.

Join the 8 billion-member club.

But if you sit in it, marinate in it like emotional chicken curry, you become your own prison guard.

Your story isn’t over just because you skipped a page.

Use regret like a sword. Cut off the parts of you that chose fear.

And walk on

3. You don’t regret the failure. You regret the silence.

Most people aren’t crying over what didn’t work.

They’re crying over what they never tried.

The song they never released.

The “I love you” they never said.

The chance they waited for to feel ready for a newsflash: you never feel ready. You just go.

Real Example: You, Me, That Guy Arif

You know that dude Arif? Yeah, maybe not. But let me paint you a picture.

Arif was that guy who was always almost doing something.

Almost started a YouTube channel.

Almost asked her out.

Almost took the job that scared him.

Now he scrolls on TikTok, clapping for other people’s dreams.

And deep down, every cheer is laced with pain.

Because he knows.

We all have an Arif inside us.

Don't let him drive.

Here's the Plot Twist You Didn’t See Coming:

Regret is a gift.

Yeah, I said it.

Not a soft, fluffy Valentine’s Day gift.

But like—a “Here’s your battle scar, wear it with honor” type gift.

It proves you cared.

It proves you’re awake now.

It proves you have the power to choose differently today.

My Advice, Bro to Bro (or Sis):

✅ Journal it. Name it. Be honest.

✅ Don’t run from it. Stare it down.

✅ Ask yourself, “If I don’t move now, what will I regret next year?”

✅ Then — and this is the key — act like you’ve learned.

You’re not a villain in your own story.

But if you don’t rewrite the script, you’re not the hero either.

Final Words (The Callout, Not the Cuddle)

You’re not reading this by accident.

Maybe the universe is sending signs.

This blog? It’s your mirror.

So look at it.

Now ask yourself one question:

What will I regret if I do nothing?

And then comment below.

Tell me your story.

Or share this with someone silently stuck.

Let’s build a world where we stop regretting and start remembering that we still have time.

Not forever.

But today?

Yeah, today’s still yours.
