Read Vocal Like A Super Hero
The Power of Reading

Vocal.Media - Saving The Planet One Reader At A Time
More than just a blog, Vocal boasts 700,000 regular users, that's readers, with an approximate 1M visits to the platform monthly. 75,000 regular authors base the forum with up to 100,000 including the occasional contributors, with a whopping 300 new stories and articles daily! This is very positive news for the global reading community. Not only meaning that Vocal is one of the most popular writers platforms but reading online is gaining a broader audience. People are more apt to gravitate toward a platform offering a variety of works, and/or subscribe for free to their favourite writers than signing up to individual bloggers.
Who would have guessed it? Vocal is also contributing to the mental health of readers everywhere. Encouraging mental stimulation daily and why not!
The advantage to a 10 minute reading is that Readers can fit in their reading adventure or knowledge with their morning coffee, starting their day with an entertaining mental boost and immediately de-stress or take pressure off the start of your day. Or an excellent lunch break past-time, still leaves time to eat, converse or run that errand. Maybe on the way home the bus ride, or subway ride can be relieving and instantly help you forget your long day. A momentary boost throughout the day if you work from home or taking a break from behavior management and or changing diapers. Or also catch up on the weekend by curling up to several stories.
Build Those Cognitive Muscles
Why is it important to read? To keep cognition fresh and bright! Brain exercise - it matters and what better way to do it than by doing something enjoyable and recreational.
Science reports after a 14 year study that reading can reduce age related cognitive decline and protect cognitive function. This matters at ANY age. One reading session per week can make a big difference or improvement.
Other Benefits of Reading:
- It's a brain work-out. Reading helps to stay sharper and more focused on other tasks
- There is evidence that reading physical paper books creates enhanced overall benefits because of the sensory stimulation, making reading a book a better tactile experience.
- Reading fights age related illnesses like Alzheimers
- Promotes relaxation any time of the day, including relaxation specific benefits like lowering blood pressure, calming behavior, and stress management
- Helps with sleeping. 20 minutes before bed can help take your mind off the world's ills.
Increases in intelligence. You learn each time that you read not to mention an overall increase in vocabulary.
The Real Scoop
Let's take a look at readers stats:
The number are split approximately between books and Ebooks or online reading with about half the reading population reading each.
USA - The median range is 4 books per year, which seems pretty dismal for booksellers. However, the numbers when crunched differently show that 1/3 of American males read regularly and 61 percent of males and females read Fiction.
CANADA - Canadians top the readership number with 53 percent reading weekly, and 33 percent reading daily.
UK - The average person reads 10 - 15 books per year, 60 percent paperback and 40 percent hardcover. 43 percent are weekly readers and 20 percent daily.
Top Genres - Fantasy, SciFi, Dystopia, Adventure, Romance, Mystery, Horror
Good News in the Poetry genre! In the last five years the number of poetry readers has doubled and 12 percent of adults in North America are reading poetry.
We need an intelligent public. ANY reading is conducive to that effort. Whether it's newspaper, books, magazines, or online reading. It doesn't have to be textbooks to learn from, indeed, many an academic acclaims just books as the source for all education. Libraries are a great resource for those who cannot afford to buy them but let's not also forget Indie authors, most featured online sales or Amazon where books are half or a third the price. Bookstores are always an all time favorite with avid readers but why not include all these reading venues.
