Quiet protector of wellbeing
Appreciation and selflessness

As I walked into her room, I was impressed by her tranquil beauty She sat on her bed, her gaze fixated on the book. I introduced myself, but she said nothing. After a few seconds, she gave me a slight grin that put me at ease, I quickly composed myself and sat down beside her.
I remember the day when I met Hira, a young girl who would have a profound impact on my life. I was seeking for a volunteer for my research assignment when I came across Hira during a plant exhibition at my university, she had been diagnosed with a rare genetic disease that impacted her ability to communicate effectively, she was also diagnosed with last stage lung cancer. Despite her communication difficulties, Hira's presence illuminated the room.
As we sat in silence, I observed her interactions with her siblings and how they engaged with her. It was an eye-opening event for me because I realized the amount of effort that went into communicating with her. They used sign language, gestures, and facial expressions to convey their messages to her. As the days went by, I started to develop a bond with Hira. I discovered that despite her inability to communicate verbally, Hira was an exceptional listener. I learned her ways of communication, and she became comfortable around me. We would spend hours together, playing board games, watching movies, and simply sitting in silence. Despite her inability to communicate verbally, she had a manner of communicating that struck my heart. Her soul was pure, and her innocence was infectious. Through my interactions with Hira, I realized that communication is more than simply words.
One day, I remember asking her what she wanted to be when she grew up. She looked at me with a glimmer in her eyes, and she signed that she wanted to be a quiet protector of wellbeing. Her response surprised me, but it made me realize that Hira had a deep understanding of the importance of communication and connecting with others. I inquired as to what she meant by it. She grabbed my hand in hers and placed it on her chest, then on my heart. That's when I realized what she was saying. She aspired to be someone who made a difference in people's lives simply by being there for them. But then one day, Hira's health began to deteriorate rapidly. Her family was devastated, and so was I. We all knew that the time we had with her was limited. I stood impotent as her condition deteriorated, and it crushed my heart to witness her pain. It seemed like there was nothing that could be done to save her.
One evening, as I was leaving Hira's room, she handed me a note and a bouquet of Hydrangeas (the flowers of appreciation). Hira always loved reading about flowers and their significance She always said they spoke a language of their own. When I read the Letter, Tears flowed down my cheeks it was a handwritten note thanking me for spending time with her and being her friend. Her words touched my heart, and I knew that our time together had been meaningful to both of us. I read the note, and I realized how much of an impact she had on my life. She was the one who was supposed to be getting help, but she ended up helping me in ways I could never have imagined.
As Hira's health continued to decline, her family decided to hold a small celebration of her life so she doesn't feel alone in her final days. The celebration was a beautiful tribute to her, and it allowed everyone who loved her to express their gratitude for the joy and love she had brought into their lives. I was honored to be invited, and I watched as her family members and friends shared stories of how Hira had touched their lives. Tears ran down my cheeks as I heard, and I realized how great of an impact Hira had on so many people. Hira unexpectedly fainted during the celebration and was transported to the hospital, where she died peacefully despite the efforts of the medical staff.
Soon after Hira's passing, I realized that her life and legacy had taught me the true meaning of compassion, empathy, and gratitude. I made a promise to myself to carry on her legacy of spreading positivity and happiness. I started volunteering at a local hospice, spending time with patients who had no one to talk to. Helping others gave me a sense of purpose and fulfilment that I had never felt before. Ultimately, my encounter with Hira taught me the value of appreciation and selflessness. Her pure soul and innocence left an indelible mark on my heart. She may not have been able to speak, but her presence spoke volumes. She taught me that sometimes the most meaningful communication is nonverbal and that spreading positivity is a noble goal to aspire to. Hira will always be a part of my life, and I will forever be grateful for the time that I spent with her.
