People Can Learn A Lot From Hardships

Hardship is indeed the pillar of a successful life. With some help from Hardships, people can learn a lot and thrive. It forges resilience, fosters empathy, cultivates wisdom, sparks innovation, and imbues life with purpose. Hardship is the muscular helping hand that teaches us how to achieve and celebrate success through failure.

Adversity, commonly known as hardship, guides people on a path to understanding and realize their mistakes. For example, take the instance that you studied for an English test and entered the exam hall with confidence and a proud feeling of accomplishment. You hear the teacher say to get ready for the Math test and your jaw and heart slump down to your shoes like clock weight. That test was the most important one amongst the rest, and you scratched your head throughout the time allocated. This situation would teach you to concentrate and be aware of small, but important details and would maybe even advocate you on how to face situations that you aren’t unprepared for. It would teach you to “Prepare and Prevent, don’t repair and repent”- Author Unknown.

Hardship also nourishes resilience and empathy. For example, you would have been the most admirable and perfect student in your class and would have been practically allergic to adversity. Suddenly, you get hit with the news that your best friend just moved away. You feel a pang of disheartenment and are completely crushed. Consequently, your grades slip down and you yourself are disappointed. You know that you’re a great student, and person and that you must get back up. This motivation makes you stand back up on your own two feet and bend over backwards.

Moreover, "Hardships are part of life, and everyone has their share of them" - Anonymous. I have also faced adversities. During the pandemic, coping with school at home, and online, was hard. Being a 9-year-old restless kid, focusing on a screen for a long time was distracting, and texting my friends, one letter at a time, was annoying and tiring. I was missing my in-depth conversations, at lunch, with my friends. As a result, my parents’ and teachers’ reaction to my report showed how much I had paid attention in class. This hardship made me work assiduously and pay more attention to my teachers. Soon, I was happily sitting on the benchmark I had set. This taught me how to cope with change and different surroundings, it taught me the route to bliss and triumph.

Undoubtedly, even famous people like J.K Rowling or Walt Disney have learned a lot from hardships. J.K Rowling had to go through consequent problems that were always strongly opposed to her dreams. Before publishing her first book in the Harry Potter series, she was rejected by 12 major publishing houses and couldn’t show her work to the world. From this, she learned to forge ahead and to never ball up and toss her dreams . After mountains of hard work, she elatedly published her Harry Potter series and became the first author to transform into a billionaire just by selling books.

Similarly, Walt Disney, the American Animator who brought our Disney movies alive, had to go through adversity too. He was rejected over 300 times for his Disneyland concept, was declared bankrupt, and was fired from the Kansas City Star. With these multiple failures sleeping on his shoulders, Walt felt upset and unmotivated at many points. However, he knew that the power within him could easily raise him back up. Walt shrugged off his failures one by one as he learned to have more courage and to never quit trying. Now, because of those hardships, he is well known for his productions and is recognized through every movie the Walt Disney Company makes.

Therefore, it is evident that hardships go hand in hand with success. It plays a vital role in our future accomplishments, and, without it, we wouldn’t be able to realize and acknowledge our mistakes. Ultimately, hardships are the threads that sew our life to be the perfect, cozy quilt.

To conclude, people can learn a lot from hardships. Life is more than just survival, it requires hardships to cultivate honesty, nurture resilience, and build your personality. Hardships make you who you are. It gives you lots of obstacles and watches you rise from them, hence proven by Nelson Mandela’s famous saying: "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall."
