Paula Abdul Cancels Tour over 'Minor Procedure' to Treat 'Recently Sustained' Injuries

Paula Abdul has announced the cancellation of her upcoming Canadian tour due to health reasons.

In a heartfelt Instagram post on Wednesday, September 4, Abdul, 62, revealed that she will need to undergo a “minor procedure” to treat some "recently sustained" injuries. The necessary recovery period will prevent her from beginning the tour later this month.

“With a heavy heart, I need to share an update regarding some injuries I’ve recently sustained,” Abdul wrote. “I have been pushing forward with targeted injections to provide temporary relief, but the demands of an entire tour are a different matter.”

Abdul explained that after consulting multiple doctors and considering all available options, she was advised that one of her injuries requires a minor procedure, followed by a 6-8 week recovery period. This unfortunately means she won't be able to proceed with the "Straight Up! to Canada Tour", including the planned dates in Alaska and North Dakota.

Expressing her “deepest apologies” to her fans in both Canada and the U.S., Abdul shared that the news “truly breaks my heart.”

“I was so looking forward to the energy, love, and connection we always share,” she continued. “I promise I’ll be back, stronger and better, dancing my heart out and performing for all of you very soon, to give you the show you deserve.”

The singer and dancer assured fans that refunds would be available at their point of purchase, adding, “Thank you for your love, your patience, and your understanding during this time. With all my love and gratitude, XoP ♥️💋🇨🇦 🇺🇸.”

Abdul’s "Straight Up! to Canada Tour" was originally set to kick off on September 25 in Victoria, British Columbia, and run until October 26. The tour also included a stop in Fargo, North Dakota, on October 12, and a performance in Anchorage, Alaska, just days before the scheduled start.

This announcement follows Abdul’s participation in the "Magic Summer 2024 Tour" with New Kids on the Block, which concluded on August 25. The tour was a nostalgic tribute to their record-breaking stadium tour of 1990 and featured DJ Jazzy Jeff as well.

After the tour wrapped up, Abdul expressed her gratitude to the band members — Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, and brothers Jonathan and Jordan Knight — in an August 27 Instagram post.

“I feel so grateful to have shared the stage with you every night. The charisma and connection you have with your audience is truly beautiful,” Abdul wrote. "And to the Blockheads, thank you for embracing me and my dancers with your energy and enthusiasm night after night! I love you all SO MUCH! 💋MAGIC SUMMER FOREVER 💜✨."

Abdul’s representative did not immediately respond to requests for additional information.
