Hannah sits in the waiting area waiting to be called into the bank
associates office. She tightens and squeeze constantly mangling her
finger. The nerves gnaw away at her insides. It was all a mess so
many things were riding on the one little loan.
(Breath. You need to breathe. Nothing good will come of anything if
you pass out now.)
“Hannah Green?”
“Yes, I'm here.”
She walks in and come out a half later deflated. The answer was a
resounding 'No'. This was the tenth time hearing it. Yet the pain of
those words never lesson one little bit. Had her invested not pulled
out because of his unwise investment with someone else she would not
be in this mess.
Her dream restaurant was so close. So near it absolution yet so far
like reaching the luminous moon.
She sighs and turns the corner tripping on the lace of her boots. “Of
course, one more trouble for the day. I just have to find another way.
There must be something that's possible.”
Just at that moment a taxi stop and a well dress man stepped out he
places a black book in a phone booth. Chucking to himself, he stepped
back into the taxi and drive away.
Hannah shrug and continue down the block passing the booth.
“Hey! Where you're going?” Call some girl.
Hannah turns to find no one. She takes another step back in the
direction of her home.
“You're going to regret passing me up baby.”
She runs around to find nobody but an old man crossing the street.
“Hello?” The confused woman whispers taking a couple of steps back.
“This way baby girl. Your bestie is waiting to show you a whole new
world.”
Hannah turns her left to the booth with the book in it. She picks up
the receiver. “Hello?”
“Not there. I'm right her hon.”
The woman states down at the black book. Shaking her head at the
absurdity. “The book?”
“That's right. You're a little slow, but it's okay. I can work with
ya. I am the best book you will ever open. Just open and say what you
want as you write it down.”
She picks up the book looks around before taking it home.
Hannah made some coffee then walked over, grab her bag and sat on the
sofa. She places the book on the coffee table and just stared at it.
About fifteen minutes passed. “If you're waiting for me to grown arms
and legs and start dancing around like a show girl. I am afraid you'll
be disappointed. I am an amazing notebook. The notebook, but still a
book.”
“How do I know this is not some cruel trick or an act of releasing a
demon. You know some weird voodoo like.”
The little black notebook laugh's. “I haven't met a card like you on a
while. I can tell you that I am none of these things but. I can't make
you believe me. You just have one thing you need to ask yourself.”
“What's that?”
“Do you have a better idea?”
Hannah quickly sweeps up the book write down and read aloud. “I want
20,000 dollars to help my restaurant open.”
She around than at the little black notebook in her hand. “Nothing
happened.”
“Give it time you just made it. Why at humans always so impatient.?”
Hannah scowls at the book place back on the table. She walks over to
check her email and social messages. No sooner as logged onto her
first social account a message blinks up.
(Hannah Green is that you. It's me Rob Corrick. I just finished
reading an investment plan with your name on it. Are you still looking
for an investment.)
Hannah stared in shock. She looked at the little notebook and the
computer three time.
“I told you to give it time. Am I something or am I something? Hold
the applause and thank me later. Never miss an opportunity. They can
fade and be gone forever.''
Nodding her agreement the women turn around and wrote back to her
middle school friend.
She woke up to the miracle sum on her account the next day.
5 months later. A brand-new woman. Hannah steps out of a private car
sits the little black notebook on the bus stop bench. “Pay it forward
little friend and bless you. “
“Hey your welcome, being fabulous us what I do.”
