One Decision Last Year That Changed My Life - Davido

Nigerian superstar singer, Davido, is opening up during a new interview with NandoLeaks about one decision he made in 2023 that changed his whole life. Davido made the revelation when talking about his hit song "Unavailable" and how the song's famous dance came to be because of the suggestion of one enthusiastic dancer. Here's what Davido had to say.

Speaking about the decision that changed his life in 2023 and how the "Unavailable" dance came to be, Davido said:

DAVIDO: I have a couple of records that when I made them, I knew it. That this one, it can't go wrong. There are some songs you record, you're like yeah man this is an extra 20 million for us. Like, you can't go wrong, so when I did "Unavailable", I really knew. And funny enough, the dance, how the dance came, we never planned it like at all.

We were in South Africa when we dropped the Timeless album. The album came out like that Friday we got to South Africa, and I was shooting "Unavailable" video on Wednesday. On the morning of the video shoot, I'm walking and then the dancer comes to me like he got an idea. I'm like, what? And he shows me. I was like no, I don't want to do that, I want to just keep my vision. Because my vision for Unavailable, I made the song for girls, for women. You know every lady wants to feel unavailable, you know what I'm saying, so it was really a thing of like you're trying to get a girl's number and she's like no, I'm unavailable, or like going on vacation, I'm unavailable. That was my vision for the song.

So I was like telling the dancer like, that's my vision for the song, I didn't know that this guy was about to change my life. So I'm like you know what let's just do it, fuck it, you know what I'm saying. And then I said let's do it and let's just do it in parts of the video. So now my director is editing the video, so the next day, we go on TikTok. We were just chilling in the living room, the album is coming out that night, we go on TikTok and I was like "yo, let's do that dance we did in the video shoot." We did it and we went to bed.

When we woke up, the whole world! I called the director, put the dance everywhere, put the dance everywhere in the video, put it everywhere in the video. So like that that was like a surreal moment. Like we didn't plan nothing. It was no promo, like we didn't spend no money, nothing. We woke up and that was the biggest shit in the world, I'm telling you.
