Nintendo Switch 2 Keeps Up Fast Pace With US Pre-Order Sellout

Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 have sold out quickly at major retailers in the United States due to an overwhelming demand. Pre-orders began at midnight on April 24, 2025, but were quickly depleted at Walmart, Best Buy, Target, GameStop, and Sam’s Club. Due to the high volume of traffic, numerous customers encountered technical issues like website crashes and delayed confirmations. GameStop acknowledged the demand and is working to address bot and duplicate orders to potentially reopen inventory.  

The Switch 2 is priced at $449.99, with a Mario Kart World bundle available for $499.99. The console features significant upgrades, such as a larger 7.9-inch 1080p LCD screen and redesigned Joy-Con 2 controllers that magnetically attach to the console and can function like a mouse on flat surfaces.  

Nintendo has advised customers who missed the initial pre-order window to inquire about launch-day availability at participating retailers. A lottery-based preorder system for Switch 2 units is also available through the My Nintendo Store; however, delivery before June 5 is not guaranteed.
