The necessity of Oversight in Mainstream Medical and Dental

I was talking to my insurance provider a few days ago, and am horrified to have found out that the physicians have the capacity to charge whatever they feel for the services, such as if you were to go get some labs done, or something as simple as a normal checkup at your family practice doctor, they are able to charge whatever they feel, for these services.

I find the need for medical oversight in regards to these types of situations. People should not be charged ridiculous fees, for services that are provided that are dependent on that medical system to be able to continue living a healthy lifestyle. I also find that with the level of complacency in the dental field, is becoming overwhelmingly worrisome. I went to my dentist, and found out that I now owe a horrendous balance, in regards to services for which I have already paid for. The dental visit I had last time, was much less that sub par. I was not fully numbed for the procedure, and with that being the case, the dentist was using a laser to remove the decay from my teeth, and considering the technology, this should not have been an issue, not only did the dentist slip up and burn the top of my lip with the laser, he also cut the roof of my mouth, and upon removing the tool he was using, which seemed like a pair of vice grips, he nearly busted one of my other teeth, and also serated my top tooth, as well as overcharging for the services, because dentists have the same capacity as doctors, in regards to charging whatever they feel they can get away with, now I am facing down a bill, that is much higher than it should be, so extremely unprofessional work. The dentist was jumping between myself and another patient, and not only this, the dentist and his assistant seemed to be holding some sort of judgement against me for not having more money than I did.

Medical oversight is absolutely necessary, otherwise we as patients, are going to continue suffering not only in regareds to health, but also in regards to our wallets. The American medical association, is not being held accountable for these types of situations, and when a patient reports a problem, nothing is done about it, in regards to having those who are either prescribing medication, or doing dental work on a patient, are able to continue charging phenomenal fees for services that are not being done with quality care in mind. Conversations are held between the dentist and their assistance, so their attention is being diverted towards their own personal life, instead of paying attention to the patient on which they are working.

We should be receiving the treatment that we deserve as patients, otherwise these practitioners are going to continue practicing in a under qualified way, when they are the ones that are supposed to be professional.

I find that these things are becoming common place, and are not just rare occurrences. I am going to report these things to my insurance company, in hopes that the professionals which are not practicing their profession in a professional manner. If the practitioner is not going to provide the quality of care that the patient deserves, they should not be practicing, and if they are going to be able to charge whatever they want for their services, then there is obviously no oversight to prevent these occurrences from becoming completely common place.

I for one am taking a stand against this, because if no one speaks up, nothing will change, which is why I am writing this article. I am now motivated to go into the industry of Alternative Medicine, so that I am able to help others in the way that they deserve, for if you are a professional in a healing practice, you should be taking the care that you provide seriously, not simply looking at the patient as a paycheck, which undervalues the entire process of practicing whatever the field of healthcare is, whether it be medical or dental, this type of behavior is not ok, and I for one am not going to stand for this type of treatment any longer.

If you are finding yourself in a similar situation, the most important thing is that you can do, is speak up, and allow the people that are supposed to be holding these individuals accountable, accountable. It is time for a change.
