My Thoughts on Pursuing Love Till I'm 100 - Ini Edo Gets Honest

"Love is so important..."

Nigerian actress Ini Edo is a dynamo actress who has been a powerhouse in the Nigerian movie industry for over two decades now. She's starred in movies like Citation, Weekend Getaway, Chief Daddy, The Man for the Job, and more.

She has also been on the hunt for love although things haven't quite worked out the way she hoped. From 2008 - 2014, she was married to Philip Ehiagwina but the relationship didn't work out. Since then, she has been searching for love and continues to search for love even today. During a new interview with fellow actress Lilian Afegbai for her show Lilian's Couch, Ini Edo opened up about why she's still dogged in her search for love and why she will continue to hunt for love even if she's 100. Here's what she said.

Ini Edo on Lilian's Couch

Responding to Lilian Afegbai's question "Do you believe in love?", Ini Edo responded saying:

100%. Love is so important, it's so important. With all the madness and everything in this world, you just want to be able to just come and talk to one person who understand you. Somebody who can understand you, who can listen to you, who can give you the peace. I think I'll always be out hunting love even if I'm a 100. Keep meeting bad relationships, if it ends badly, we keep trying, we move. It's what it is. It's a gift in life. So no matter how bad relationships turn out, take a look at when it was beautiful. When it was beautiful, it was the best thing that was happening at that time.

Like J.Lo (i.e. Jennifer Lopez), that's my girl. She keeps going after this love and I'm just like, that's my girl, keep going until you find it. If you marry 100, keep going.

There's a way that we grew up to understand life to be or what it was meant to be. At the age of 18, you've graduated. At the age of 22/23, you're married. Before 30, you've finished having kids. You do your masters, you do...mehn! First of all, let's even start from the grassroots. Will the universities even let you graduate at that age? The system first of all won't even let you graduate at that age. You finish graduating at that age or whatever age you end up graduating, you now start looking for the job. You're looking for the job, how many years now? The frustration. The other guy you're supposed to marry is also looking for job somewhere. Nothing is as it should be anymore. We're just here not even knowing what we're doing. We're just waking up everyday, everybody's searching for happiness. Everybody's searching for satisfaction. Everybody wants to survive.

I love Ini's words. Everybody's really just waking up and searching for happiness and no matter how many times this world throws rocks along your path, you have to keep getting up and keep pushing. This is such a beautiful way of looking at life and love, but that's what me I think.

How about you? What do you think of Ini's words? Let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment either below or on my Jide Okonjo Facebook post. I'd love to know what you think.
